When a Mayor Makes Sense I Tend to Listen

Some commentary on this Facebook post:

"Raymond Hall
When i went to scool years and years ago . We built 3 houses , designed some in drafting class. Made the Blue prints , Trades need to be a focus in our schools . For to long people have looked down their noses at the trades people. They are an essential part of our economy. My opinion."

"Laurie Blackier
Way way back, the shop department always built a house! From scratch. They did everything. Including plumbing and electricity I do believe. Then it got thrown by the way side. Academics are important but realistically, these skills are just as valuable. Maybe even more so"

First of all, you need to teach the teachers that first !!!
When children look up to ones who “help” them learn, the actions, or words of the teaching staff (not all) can potentially ruin a child’s desired path in life. it also works in reverse……. It could also push those children to acquire and achieve their maximum goals in life if spoken to accordingly and positively !!
Not only for teachers (this was my own experiences) but parents, friends, & peers words can and will affect one’s judgement of what they want to pursue for a career. My motto…. “If you work hard enough, and care about who you become in life, life will “trade” you beautiful things in return”.
University isn’t for everyone…. Colleges aren’t either ….. all we as “adults” can do, is speak encouraging words, and guide our children to be the best that they can be no matter what !! especially in today’s times. She’s a rough go out there for young people just starting out…. "

I totally agree!!! It also costs way less and more kids can access it without being in debt for years to come. St. Andrews NBCC needs to offer more courses not less."

"Terrance Matser
Not saying this isn’t a great idea. But this has nothing to do with the Cost of construction going threw the roof…..you can blame our government and suppliers for that….."

"Jeff Wilson
Blame Frank Mackenna for that. He wanted us to be a province of call centres. The world wouldn’t turn without trades. Not only can trades make great money, a person doesn’t have to into debt for their education"

"Faith E. Avery
Agree! I have been saying this as it has been near impossible to get carpenters, electricians, plumbers in our area. There is just one small appliance repair person now and he is going straight out."
