Former Town Councillor Joyce McNeil's Pet "Seat" Project with Matt Pryde Parks & Rec. Tantramar

Former town councillor Joyce McNeil was happy to ignore the skatepark youths' plea in the town for years as she was on the Town Council along with current Town Councillor Mike Tower & Bruce Phinney when the youth group presented in Town Hall about their desire to get a concrete skatepark project built for the youth in this town and tourism.. So, now with the current and expensive "campaign for expensive ice arena chairs" this her ongoing attempt to run up the bill at the Ice Rink for some reason even in the face of those who are paying attention who know full well that the much-needed elevator project should have been done long ago.. go figure huh?  Amazingly, Matt Pryde [who relocated his office space to the ice rink building] is for some unknown reason doing her bidding.. one has to ask why?  Why not simply do a "seat cushion" for purchase fundraiser for those who don't like to sit on the existing benches that are perfectly useful?Just let this frivolous project die.  A seat cushion brought from home [as many people do] or an ongoing fundraiser for sale at the rink's offices and Concession Bar would make more sense and would be much LESS expensive, they could be gifted to friends and family, and could also make for a good joint project fundraiser for our amazing and awesome local Titans Highschool Hockey Team players by including their logo with a logo for Tantramar on the cushions.  

Guess what?  These are the sort of creative ideas needed here as they are fiscally responsible which is something Matt Pryde doesn't have a clue about and for the past decade he has done nothing to advance the skatepark project because he lacks imagination.  Matt Pryde is just another "net zero" cult member so I expect nothing from him at this point when it comes to the long overdue youth skatepark project--he has no talent for building.

I do expect the people on Council and the Mayor to show a little more "leadership" on these projects... before things really get out of hand with spending... $200K for chairs on top of existing benches? wtf?!

"Tantramar civic centre users will soon be able to watch their hockey and skating in a little more comfort.

The first round of spectator seating will soon be installed in the rink, thanks to a fundraising effort that was launched in 2025 called the Grab-A-Seat campaign.

“So far the fundraising campaign has raised enough money for 215 seats,” said director of Active Living and Culture Matt Pryde.

Tantramar council approved the installation of the 200 20-inch seats at its February council meeting. The seats will be supplied and installed by Creative Sports Solutions of Darmouth, Nova Scotia at a cost of approximately $68,000."
