Andrew Black is running for Town Councillor Ward 3 in Tantramar, not Mayor, after 10 years in service at the local level he has decided he might best serve as a Town Councillor, not as Mayor.  Election day is May 11th, 2026.. full Tantramar candidates list is here:  Elections NB - Unofficial list of candidates & plebiscites

Black does use Facebook to connect with the public which is noteworthy as not all our local elected politicians are accessible by this method.

and Andrew Black does use X [yet Green Tantramar MLA Megan Mitton has refused to use her X account at this point for some reason] .. here:

Announcement on their Facebook page reads:

Dear friends,
It is with great pleasure that the Board of Directors of Open Sky Co-operative Ltd. announces that Andrew Black has been hired as our new Executive Director and will begin June 1st.

Andrew has been working at Open Sky for the past 2.5 years. Over that time, he has developed a passion for the work that Open Sky does and for the people we serve. He embodies the traits of kindness, fairness, empathy and inclusivity that are at the heart of the core values of Open Sky. He will replace Laura Hunter, who will be retiring in early summer after 5 years in this leadership role. Working with Laura has been a privilege. We wish her all the best in her retirement and the adventures ahead. It is our hope that Laura will remain closely connected.

As incoming Executive Director, Andrew Black, brings experience from his background spanning the corporate, retail, and public sectors. He has served as Councillor and later Mayor of the Town of Sackville and Municipality of Tantramar since 2016. He has made many connections in the Tantramar community and in the government during his tenure as mayor and on Council. He also served in leadership roles (First Vice President and President) for the non-profit association the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick. From these roles he brings skills in management, financial accountability, networking and effective communication.

We are excited to welcome Andrew as our new Executive Director. Andrew’s deep roots in this community, combined with his passion for the mission of Open Sky, make him a natural fit for this role. Those who know Andrew know that he brings not just experience, but real energy and enthusiasm — a forward-looking spirit that we believe will open new doors and create new possibilities for the people we work alongside. Open Sky continues to grow and respond to the needs in the community, and we are confident Andrew is the right person to lead us in this next chapter.

The mere fact that the Town Hall staff here in Tantramar happily donate budget monies of the taxpayers to this charity [by way of "grant money"] really should be a questionale and somewhat contentious matter as a conflict of interest would rightly be perceived.  Charities, or as they like to call themselves "non profits" or NGOs [non-governmental organizations] are basically set up operating freely without scrutiny or public accounting [there are many of them "grifting" around here including EOS Eco-Energy, Sackville Commons] and all are given money by way of generous donations, gifts, grants from many sources including through the Canada Helps site shown below here:

In this sense our local government can be seen to be 'picking favourites' ie. winners and losers of organizations here that are 'more worthy' and so deserving of free money versus folks who run real business enterprises and are not on the generous nannystate tit, on the take, ie. grifting.. but because these charities are 'doing such good work in the community' no one seems particularly bothered or concerned about this 'special business model' but they should be.. as the truth is, this sort of division created in our society by favoring certain "operations" with free donations is an unfair business practice.  I have long since held this view about Open Sky Co-Op since its formation and when it was heavily promoted by the Town Hall staff and politicians in disproportion to the many other businesses operating in the area... as well as being public about this "model of business" and critical of this activity by our town hall staff and employees who don't seem to understand the ethics and proper business practices of granting money to only certain groups year after year which sets a very poor precedent and is not a good look, at all.  "Transforming" our economy to communitarianism rather than capitalism is their overall goal.

There are numerous articles at this blog about the ideology:  communitarianism.. I would suggest that others read and understand them.

The sad truth is there are a lot of "entitled grifters" operating in Canada.. its the new normal:
