The Death of BlogTalk Radio .. The End of an Era for Indie Journalism in 2025

"Closing Chapters and New Beginnings: Our Podcasting Journey from WTR to Podbean

On January 31st, 2025, BlogTalkRadio (BTR) will cease operations and no longer be available for use. This announcement marks the end of an era for us, as BlogTalkRadio has been our home for nearly 18 years. Founded by Alan Levy, BTR emerged from a deeply personal experience. Levy, inspired by his father’s battle with lymphoma and cancer, had created a blog to connect with others. He quickly noticed the immense popularity of blogs—with 75-80 million in existence at the time—but felt the conversations they sparked were one-sided. Determined to change that, he created BTR: a platform enabling live, interactive conversations through phone calls. This innovation opened the door for countless individuals to join the world of podcasting with ease."
