See the link here to their hiring page information...

"Mount Allison is looking to hire two Indigenous scholars, field of study open within the Arts and Social Sciences. Job ad." - March 7th, 2018

So.. Who is Prof. Dave Thomas? His Twitter bio says:

"Teaches politics & international relations at Mount Allison U, likes critical thinking/action, tweets about 'politics' broadly defined and other nonsense."

As a twitter user [ Indie Media East Coast ] I had asked him a few things on Twitter but noticed that he now blocks me... Dave I can still see your stuff you know buddy? I don't think we have ever met but he is apparently intimidated by my comments/questions.  Interesting.  I am a fan of conversations... some of his other twitter followers include Tina Oh & Emma Jackson ['divest mta' cult members] .. he likes to re-tweet Naomi Klein, Harsha Walia, NB Media Co-Op, Erin Steuter updates, and on deaths of Palestinians, abortion rights, war, middle east stories, as well as information about sabbaticals and administration.

"Race" or 'ethnicity' preferential targetted hiring on the basis of indigenous or non-indigenous status is part of the 'indigenize' the Mount Allison University campus.

To learn more about this hiring practice check the link above which states in part:

"The successful candidates will join a community of scholars who value experiential learning. Applicants should submit a letter of application, their curriculum vitae, the names and contact information of four references, and any other material they would like the search committee to consider in a single PDF to committee chair Patricia Kelly Spurles (pkellysp@mta.ca). Review of applications will begin on March 30, 2018 and will continue until the positions are filled. Candidates who have been selected for an interview will also be asked to deliver a research talk to the community and teach a sample class. Mount Allison acknowledges, honours and respects the Mi’kmaw and Wolastoquyik (Maliseet) peoples, the historic inhabitants, custodians, and dwellers on the land where our university is built, and confirms its commitment to strengthen relationships with them. Mount Allison is committed to diversity and inclusiveness. We encourage applications from members of racialized communities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual and gender identities. We seek candidates with qualifications and knowledge to contribute specifically to the further diversification of our campus community. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents are given priority. Canadians and permanent residents should indicate their citizenship status in their application."
