Deputy Mayor Greg Martin [Aulac] presided over the meeting and opened the proceedings with a declaration about unceded territory... why? No one seems to know why there is a commentary being made at the start of every meeting about the lands that we are all presiding upon.. other than to say everyone else is doing it. New Brunswick is an old province and in fact Sackville was founded in the 1760s and is not correct to call it "unceded territory"... Greg Martin should refrain from this commentary if he doesn't understand the legal ramifications of making such commentary in public... in the past Andrew Black, before he was elected Mayor of Tantramar, has referred to these lands as "stolen lands".
