Other than protecting themselves and each others' very well paid jobs at Mount Allison University they don't contribute very much it turns out..
In fact, if the entire administration were fired tomorrow no one would miss them. They are the 'chattering class' because all they do is talk.. and talk is cheap. Girls here were being raped, abused, molested, and harmed on their campus and what did they do? Go for lunch.. go for dinner.. purchase more stuff for their expensive homes, nice cars, cottages, jetsetting, affluent lifestyles.. no, they do not care about anything but their status, job, pay.
This response jointly from them is called coddling.. pandering... lip service... placating.. non-action:
"We have heard the many, many students who have not felt that their concerns have been listened to or taken seriously. That needs to change. We are listening. We take your concerns seriously. And we pledge to work with students and the Mount Allison community more effectively, starting now.
― Jean-Paul Boudreau, President and Vice-Chancellor
― Jeff Hennessy, Provost and Vice-President Academic and Research
― Anne Comfort, Acting Vice-President International and Student Affairs
― Gloria Jollymore, Vice-President University Advancement
― Robert Inglis, Vice-President Finance and Administration"
Talk is cheap.. fire them all... #defund admin.
Some background reading:
I refuse to leave Mount Allison University without acknowledging the harm the Mount Allison institution has caused.
It all started in 2016. I came to know of an indivdual who had assaulted roughly a dozen women in residence. Although women came forward, the univesity decided to allow him to continue attending campus AND remaing in residence, where the next year he would be given the opportunity to assault a dozen more women. I quickly realized that Mount Allison University would not protect their students, but instead protect the rapist that attended our classes and walked our campus.
The next few years were really hard. I became known has an activist and students starting pouring in, telling me personal experiences where their rapist was allowed to continue attending Mount Allison, despite many women coming forward.
Mount Allison loves to tell us how low their rates of sexual assault are. I want you to know, that is a lie. Ask to women around you, sexual assault at Mount Allison University is as common as attracting a common cold. Personally, I know more victims of sexual assault on this campus than students who have not been impacted. I can go to Ducky's on a Saturday evening and name more than a handful of men who got away with sexual assault at the bar preying on a new target. In all honestly, in my last 5 years attending Mount Allison University, I have met approximitly 50 victims. I have never seen a rapist be expelled.
As I become an Alumni, I will forever stand by my choice to let everyone know that MOUNT ALLISON IS NOT A SAFE INSTITUTION. MOUNT ALLISON PROTECTS RAPIST. MOUNT ALLISON SILENCES VICTIMS.
I came to Mount Allison University knowing it was the #1 undergraduate university. I left Mount Allison University knowing it was the #1 university in ignoring sexual violence.
I spent the last 5 years begging the university to revisit how they approach sexual violence, and they continuaouly refused. So here is the truth! Fuck you Mount Allison University!
#mountiepride am I right?
