Last night (Dec. 13-14th), we were treated to one of the most spectacular astronomical shows of the year. Not only was the Gemenids the most productive meteor shower so far in 2020 with more than 100 meteors per hour around the peak (we counted!), but we also saw it through a magnificent display of aurora borealis.
We drove to Reinvika, Troms, about 45 minutes north of Tromsø in Arctic Norway. We settled at a small peninsula with clear view at 360 degrees and started shooting right away. We stayed there from 5pm until 4 am, and got amazing stills. However, the real time ones were most spectacular, so here they come! We haven't seen big bolides, but so many bright Geminids regardless!
Enjoy the show!
All was shot with the Sony a7s and Sigma 20mm f1.4. All post production was made in FCPX.
