Is the future for most people going to be living in rental accommodation?
"You'll own nothing and you'll be happy" World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab
Sample housing unit interior shown below of an apartment created by local builder/developer John Lafford.. the suites are nicely appointed.. for a lifetime of renting .. who are some of the local politicians who are lifetime renters? Bruce Phinney is a Lafford renter.. he is also a very long serving town councillor and retired Mount Allison University worker.
In a rental apartment if you have a balcony you are fortunate because you can have some plants and food growing outside on your outdoor space.
What are the upsides of renting? Easy lower cost living, no water bills, no property taxes, no snow shovelling, no worrying about repairs and maintenance... the appeal is obvious but it isn't for everyone; downside less privacy, less freedom, no investment gained or equity acquired.
Does John Lafford have any plans to build homes that are single family dwellings that could be purchased in Tantramarshire? Is there any incentive for John Lafford to build anything other than the typical SMARTgrowth that has "densified" the downtown core over the past dozen or so years..?
Mayor Andrew Black has talked about the "densification" of the Town of Tantramar.. is this the best way to develop a region? Why? Why not? Who benefits?
See some sample family homes here below - would people prefer to live in apartments or in houses given a choice of either? Ownership vs. rentals?
