Earlier this year at the university campus ..

"Two Mount Allison professors are calling on the university to abandon its plan to confer an honorary degree on Deborah Lyons, Canada’s former ambassador to Israel and Afghanistan.

Politics and International Relations Professor Lara Khattab and Krista Johnston, Director of Women’s and Gender Studies, are gathering signatures for an online petition urging Mt. A. to rescind its decision to grant Lyons an honorary degree at this year’s convocation ceremonies on May 15th"

In reaction to University's decision to confer to Deborah Lyons an honourary degree there was an organized graduation day protest that included students, professors, and elder Marilyn Lerch, 87, [local poet, LGBTQ+ activist, and anti-war campaigner, retired teacher, who was recently honoured at the Sackville Arts Wall]. "Israel’s latest assault on Gaza in December 2008 killed over 1300 people, and injured over 5,000. Among those killed were 300 children. In those attacks 18 schools were destroyed and 280 damaged. Because of the blockade on construction materials – enforced by the Israeli military – the damaged schools have not been rebuilt or repaired. HESEG representatives went into Gaza to hand out $160,000 worth of “thank you” gifts to Israeli soldiers during these attacks."

Its unclear what reason Dave Thomas has for blocking on Twitter / X .. but he's not alone on the campus Erica Butler at CHMA FM also blocks on Twitter / X ... no reason given .. but not helpful.

The crowd at MtA would do well to realize what they're supporting in Palestine.
Outfits like Hamas that go on random murderous rampages. Savages.

To whom it may concern, Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We appreciate your commitment to tolerance and would like to applaud you for listening to diverse opinions. Our concern, as White Advocates, is that rhetoric that is purported to be designed to help with racial issues often exacerbate relations between groups and can cause division and resentment. Programs and classes about “White Privilege” inculcate a sense of guilt and shame into white people and are based on the pernicious idea that whites are inherently oppressive to other racial groups. “White Privilege” indoctrination is a passive-aggressive, psychological attack on the well-being of whites as individuals and as a people. Certain political groups have crafted what is called “The Progressive Stack” which puts white, heterosexual men at the bottom of the social order on the notion that they oppress others. We see this ideology manifest itself in policies and laws like Affirmative Action, incentives for non-Whites and systematic ridicule and debasement of whites and their cultures and history. This type of racism should not be tolerated and is a bane on our free and equal society.
