Porter had been featured on the cover of the town's now defunct "Sackville Tribune Post" in October 2015 after the first Pride event took place here.

A lot of support is shown for "transgender" folks in this town.  This is a "progressive" town politically speaking and very inclusive and accepting -- I find it unfortunate that this story went to a national level as it makes for a bad impression of the culture here.. reflecting badly on the town's reputation.  Personally, I have found Sackvillians to be extremely friendly and pleasant and I have lived here for over 12 years but no one has asked for my opinion at a National newspaper about the town's culture... I guess only "bad news" is what sells newspapers?  As an old historic town it gets a lot of things right and has a lot to offer residents lucky enough to call the town home.  On a personal note I left a mint plant on Rogan's doorstep as a gift one year as I have often done for many folks here... apparently, Rogan reported online that I was being inappropriate doing this which baffled me to be honest -- its hard to please some people.  I don't try to please people - I just try to be peaceful and kind.  Rogan also reported online that I have no place in this community - this was also a baffling statement.
