I have been a elver fisherman for 26 years, as part of a co-op of fishermen who have ethically harvested under a strictly regulated and until the last 6 years, well managed fishery. This government destroyed my livelihood and those of friends and family and others in the fishery, in an economically depressed rural area. I would accuse them of doing it with malicious intent, except that they are such bungling clowns I do not know if they could pull anything off, even their own messed up agenda. I want my job back!!!!!

I’m a elver fisherman on the verge of bankruptcy because of this… After having my income cut in HALF last year, I guess I don’t even get a job this year. In my most challenging year, being a new father, and trying to provide for a 6 month old child. Open the fishery now, let us sweep up the broken pieces of what we once had, and recoup even a small amount of what you have destroyed in your cirque du soleil enforcement act over the last few years. This year DFO enforcement has been excellent, I am 100% confident that we could still have a season peacefully, and work with officers in terms of traceability, and out on the rivers. What’s better for spotting poachers and alerting officers than hundreds of legal fishermen on the rivers that they fish!
