π΅️ The United Nations’ legacy is marred by sex scandals that continue to shock the world. This episode focuses on Peter Dalglish — a celebrated humanitarian and U.N. insider — who was exposed as a predator.
Dalglish, the founder of Street Kids International, was arrested in Nepal after being discovered with two young boys, aged 12 and 14, inside his home. Convicted of child sex crimes, he was originally sentenced to 16 years in prison. Though his sentence was reduced on appeal, his convictions remain.
Dalglish has tried to claim “conspiracy,” but such denials ring hollow in light of the decades-long U.N. sex abuse crisis — from peacekeepers exploiting vulnerable populations in occupied nations, to allegations of misconduct even within U.N. headquarters itself. The BBC and many international outlets have documented the toxic culture of impunity within the U.N., where abusers are shielded rather than punished.
This case is yet another example of systemic abuse at the highest levels of supposed humanitarian work.
