"Concerning Message" at Mount Allison University Campus - Closed for Remainder of the Week

Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B., will remain closed for the rest of the week after a "concerning message" was found on campus on Monday.

In a statement, the university said the message referenced Feb. 11, 2026 and the school made the decision to close the campus Wednesday "out of an abundance of caution."

The university said it notified RCMP as soon as the message was found and has increased patrols and security presence on campus.

"Campus Security will continue to be present, and the situation will remain under review," the university added.

All classes and on-campus activities have been cancelled, and faculty have been asked to "provide flexibility and make alternative arrangements" in regards to mid-term tests and assignments.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, the university said it will remain closed until Saturday. Student residences and dining services are still open and in operation.

"While there is no indication of an ongoing threat, we recognize that this has been a stressful time for many members of our community. Closing campus for the remainder of the week will allow time for our community to pause and reset before resuming normal operations," it said.

New Brunswick RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette said police were at the university investigating the incident Wednesday.

"At this time, police do not believe that there is a concern for public safety at the university, and no arrests have been made," he wrote in an email.

Anyone who sees something suspicious is asked to call 911 and campus security at 506-364-2228." - Story by Rebecca Lau, msn.com
