"We are so sad to have learned the news of your mother’s passing. It was a bit of a shock, as she had written a beautiful email letter to Christl on Tuesday evening. It has to be said that your mother lived a very full, satisfying and consequential life from beginning to end. We admired and appreciated her enormously, both professionally and personally. She was very kind to and supportive of our youngest, Frances, and was a great supporter of both of us. We know that she leaves a deep and wide legacy across many domains. I (Robert) was honoured to have prepared the dossier for her entry to the Order of Canada, one of the easier tasks of my life given her activities and achievements. But in the last analysis, we will remember her as a generous, loyal and loving friend. We are thinking of you at this challenging time. Take care and keep the faith. Christl Verduyn and Robert Campbell PS we will not to able to attend the commemoration service, as we will be in Mexico City with our children for the World Cup
