At this link: GIESBRECHT: It’s not too late to abolish the Indian Act
"Instead of phasing out a temporary race-based legal system, governments and courts have entrenched it, leaving Canada further from equal citizenship than ever."This NDP Government has done a marvellous job gaslighting British Columbians about the truths related to the Cowichan Aboriginal Title Decision.
On one hand they are telling the public ‘there’s nothing to see here’, and ‘stop the fear mongering and misinformation campaign…nobody is coming for your private property’.
On the other, the Premier understands and shares the concerns and anxieties of residents.
The NDP have put up $150 million to backstop mortgages in the title area.
The NDP strongly disagrees with the court judgement.
Funny dichotomy isn’t it?
My guess is that if this was 2019, the NDP would either be supporting this decision or being absolutely silent while shielding the public from peeking behind the curtain.
The NDP knows that their 2-sided approach to reconciliation-one that deeply supports an endless stream of reparations and land-back, while simultaneously displaying a facade of ‘standing up for the public interest’- cannot and will not last.
Only will actively defend private property and the public interest while creating a more certain and prosperous province for everyone who lives here.
