If you’ve seen us in town, you’ve likely noticed the wooden structure in front of our building! Well, what’s going on? Struts Gallery is undergoing a major facelift.
We are renovating the front-facing wall of Struts Gallery. The first phase includes brick-repointing using heritage methods, restoring the window to the historic Tingley Bros & Duncan storefront look and installing an accessible front door in the iconic yellow that we all know and love.
Why are we renovating? Our engineering consultants Heritage Standing Inc. identified that our front wall was degrading rapidly and in need of immediate intervention to protect and stabilize it. Engineered shoring was installed in June 2026 and permanent repairs begin on September 21, 2026. This phase of work will cost us about $200,000 total.
With news that we were awarded a $50,000 grant from the Government of New Brunswick through the Built Heritage Program, we’ve jumped into action. We are now launching the Façade Facelift Fundraiser, with the goal of raising $20,000 by Dec. 1, to match a $20,000 grant that J.T. Clark Family Foundation has committed to us if we match their funds! So far, we have $5,167 raised.
If you can’t donate, help us find someone who can. We are seeking individuals, foundations, and businesses who can commit $1,000 or more. Send your inquiries to Interim Director Michelle, she would love to chat with you. We are a registered charitable organization that issues tax receipts for any donations over $50.
There are many ways to support us: renew your membership with us or purchase our merchandise. We have new Whess Harman ‘Tenderizer’ tees for sale, we restocked our Struts Allergy hats in periwinkle and mustard & have Natt Cann prints available. This month you can find us at the Sackville Farmer’s Market and we’re hosting a Halloween extravaganza in October – more details coming soon.
