Is there a skateboarding culture in the town?
Its true that it was many years ago the youth rallied... but since the hiring of the well paid parks and rec. guy Matt Pryde he has done his best to extinguish the sport.. and diminish the youth who are passionate about it... why? Its a sport that builds free spirited warriors.. that's why. Culture matters. Matt Pryde is more comfortable yapping about "net zero" nonsense, planting trees, and electric zambonis in our Town Hall meetings. Simple as.
Thanks Grok... "create or die" button from art student sales day at Mount Allison University years ago..

Considering how long and how much I have advocated for the new venue for the youth skateboarders in this town I can only assume that the blacklisting of me has spilled over into the desire by Town Hall staffers to tackle this project.. that's petty, destructive and unfortunate if true. Its also true that Matt Pryde was given the Newline Skatepark brochure passed on to me by former Town Councillor Bruce Phinney with business cards for those who build skateparks.. that's not the first time Matt Pryde was asked to look into the project and given the business card of Newline Skatepark .. he just seems adament that this is not worth pursuing -- that's why his project for chairs in the ice arena was promoted by him so hard.. he will do anything but a project for the skateboarding youth in this town... who are more than worthy and deserving of a new concrete venue here. More recent Town Hall hire Jeff Taylor was also advised in person and by telephone of this outstanding and long-overdue project for the youth but has also shown no interest in talking about it and simply, like everyone else, brushed it aside... It seems the more people they hire in this town the less they actually seem to be achieving. The age range of skatepark youth is anywhere from 4 yrs old to 50 years old.. its a sport with an appeal to those people not interested in doing organized team sports.. once a park is built there is no maintenance other than keeping the space free of debris/garbage.. which makes it a great ROI [return on investment] for the long term... its also a great gathering place for the youth and its outdoors which is great.. it should be built with a sun shelter area as the one in Moncton by river was built as that addition makes it a much better place to play on hot days when a little time in shade can help offer some relief after the exertion involved in active skateboarding for hours at a time.

The nearest really great skatepark is in Amherst Nova Scotia.
