Shawn Mitton, a local father, tragically passed away after a stabbing on the evening of March 16th, 2024 .. he was found by police injured outside of a downtown Lorne Street business.
Shawn Mitton's death is being investigated as a homicide.

Charged are locals Tyler Murphy and Dylan Murphy. I am not on Facebook - I am not allowed on that platform - but I had heard about this tragedy with the death of Shawn Mitton from Michael Landry on Twitter by a private message - and that this story about Shawn Mitton's death was shared at "Tantramar Community Concerns" on Facebook but that it was censored off by administrator Bonnie Swift. If locals with information are being suppressed/hidden online its very unhelpful - Bonnie Swift should not be removing any commentary .. so why does she? The group changed its settings to private with the approval of Deputy Mayor Greg Martin and the reasoning is only really known to failed candidate for Mayor Bonnie Swift after she took over running the Facebook page/group administration from Michael Landry [originator of the group online]. "Tantramar NB Community Chatter" on Facebook is another private group that supposedly is run by Town Councillor Josh Goguen.. why keep the groups "private" and limit the information from the public's view? Are these closed groups gossiping and lacking in transparency? Yes. . . they of course are. Not good. Are they monitored by the local RCMP? Most likely. More at this link:
