At this video link: Rick Hansen on Paralysis, Terry Fox & the Love That Carried Him | Arlene Is Alone

At 15, Rick Hansen was paralyzed from the waist down in a truck crash. He went on to become a six-time Paralympic medallist and the Man In Motion, wheeling more than 40,000 kilometres around the world to prove what people with disabilities can do.
In this episode, I sit down with Rick to talk about the accident that changed his life, the determination that got him through those early years, and the gym teacher who opened his eyes to a future he couldn’t yet picture. We talk about his friendship with Terry Fox and how Terry’s Marathon of Hope helped inspire the Man In Motion World Tour.
We also talk about Amanda, Rick’s physiotherapist on the world tour who became his wife, and the role she’s played in his life and work ever since. The way he talks about their partnership is something I won’t forget.
This is a conversation about resilience, purpose, and the people who make the impossible feel possible.
