Update on proposed Rogers tower installation:
I spoke with Michelle Klein on the phone today, from Scott Telecom Services Ltd. who Rogers uses to contract out the planning side of this process. She said that they had received 17+ letters from citizens within Tantramar with concerns and opposition to the location (NOT THE TOWER ITSELF) that is being proposed. Even though today, February 26, is the last day for public submission on the project, Michelle said that it is somewhat of an arbitrary date. They have to choose a cutoff date in the process and this is the date they chose.....if people within the community still want to have their voices heard there is a 14 day grace period in which there will be a response to any submission presented.
I also want to make it clear, after reading many comments on this social media platform, that council is not opposed to the tower itself and realizes the impact that it would bring to the community with the expansion of cell phone service and the direct connection to supporting public safety in Tantramar and the area. The issue is the location for the placement of the tower that is being proposed.
I am awaiting a response from Rogers on the letter that I sent which I have been told is forthcoming and I will update again as this story continues."
