"In 2016, Elsipogtog First Nation filed its own claim for Aboriginal title to all of southeastern New Brunswick."

Bruce Wark publishing "natives" New Release here: MTI-news-rlse1_Merged.pdf

This highway Welcome to New Brunswick signage near the border with Nova Scotia shown above was removed in 2018.. perhaps that's because they're planning to rename the province with an "indigenous" name instead of the one it has had since 1784 when it was named?

"King George III King of Great BritainKing of Ireland, and prince-elector of Brunswick-Lüneburg in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (until 1806) in what is now Germany.[31] Upon its split from Nova Scotia, it was initially named New Ireland; it was not long until the name was then changed to New Brunswick.[32] The original Brunswick is known as Braunschweig, but also Brunswiek (in Low German), and also Bronswiek (in the local dialect)."

It would be wonderful to have some clarity from the many locally elected politicians on this issue of our "land rights" SOONER rather than later.
Does your Town Hall have the authority to give away your land rights to natives by continually making their oral declarations on the record that we are all on 'unceded territory of the mikmak people'? As Town Councillor Alison Butcher has expressed her desire to be known as a "settler" I have asked her why that is so. If you don't think that language use matters.. you'd be wrong.

Perhaps understanding who the lawyer is behind this "native claim" in our province will cause some alarm among those sleeping masses here...

"Lawyer Bruce McIvor, who filed the claim on behalf of the First Nation, said the notion of Aboriginal title is historic  — only once before in Canada has it been granted, and that happened in British Columbia. The B.C. claim wound up in the Supreme Court of Canada, which ruled 8-0 in favour."  Gabrielle Fahmy, CBC News report, November 9, 2016

Who are the elected local politicians that are speaking on behalf of the voters in the region?

Mayor is Andrew Black.. on Facebook:

Deputy Mayor is Matt Estabrooks.. story here:

Tantramar's Town Councillors are shown here:

Mike Tower, Bruce Phinney, Josh Goguen, Barry Hicks, Allison Butcher, Debbie Wiggins-Colwell, and Greg Martin.

Reaching out to the currently elected Town Councillors with your shared concerns about this spoken declaration by Mayor or Deputy Mayor that happens at the start of every meeting might be a worthwhile thing to do. Seek their clarification as to why they are tasked to do it... was it an instruction they received from the local university administration?

More here on the B.C. situation:

Why is long time Town Hall staffer Ron Kelly Spurles promoting "UNCEDED" as part of his job description as "Tourism Manager"?

What about people who disagree with this claim?
