Team Trudeau’s Global Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne wants us all to know that he’s “looking into” a deal with a firm owned by Communist China to provide Canadian embassies with X-ray security equipment. I have one simple question: Why is a Chinese company that is obligated by state law to do the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party even being considered for this contract? Champagne’s promise came after an earlier announcement that Nuctech, a company founded by the son of a former General Secretary of the CCP, was awarded the tender as the lowest bidder for a $6.8-million contract to install the equipment in 170 Canadian embassies, consulates, and high commissions all over the world. The United States has recognized the threat of companies like Nuctech for some time. They’ve been urging European countries to uproot that company’s cargo, baggage, and passenger screening systems from their airports. Canada is the only member of the ‘Five Eyes’ security network that has not banned Huawei from its 5G network development. With this revelation, the other ‘Five Eyes’ members should boot Canada from the group. Team Trudeau has made it clear we simply can’t be trusted. Allowing a regime known for using its country’s firms to spy on everyone even the mere possibility of supplying security equipment to our embassies is an act that goes beyond mere stupidity and incompetence. Why is Team Trudeau still so cozy with the Communist Party of China? What is the motivation here? I will stand up for Canadian sovereignty and against aggression of the Chinese Communist Party in all its forms. I will ban Chinese state-owned companies from bidding on contracts that would allow them to imperil national security. That, of course, includes Huawei and Nuctech. Make me #1 on your CPC leadership ballot and together we will stand up to the Communist Party of China and for Canadian sovereignty.
