Special Council Meeting - November 28, 2023 - Town of Tantramar "Branding Presentation"

One more spending item for the in-house team at the Town Hall Palace that loves to spend large amounts of money wastefully.  I'm sure we can expect to see lots more invoices to come now for banners, knick-knacks, "swag", decals, stickers, cards, stationery, business cards, flags, signs, brochures, products, postering, and so much more..

Of note: 200 responses to survey of which
included ...

ages of surveyed included:
18-24 yrs - 7%
25-34 yrs - 11%
35-44 yrs - 18%
45-54 yrs - 19%
55-64 yrs - 18%
65 yrs+ - 25%

Nature, community, history..

life in the "shire" is rural but not completely sleepy here.. no surprises here folks.
Logo, font, graphics "crest" presented:

Variations.. bus stop advertising

Promotional items..

Mayor Andrew Black seemed especially excited about the truck wrapper here...

Keep in mind the consulting bill is just the start of what will be a lot more spending as they attempt to market their town to the world yet again.

Management at the Town Hall Palace surely will have noted the absence of any industry on the crest and the old university which is unfortunate.. so as a "Wetland City" are we moving in an anti-industry direction here?  Times change.

I believe this region sells itself.. I don't believe in "branding" or defining what the place is... and who wants to spend a lot of money on such things and why? The 'nature only' theme of the logo says a lot about the anti-industry and anti-blue collar working class ethos of the local 'chattering class' and 'self appointed management' who attempt to culturally dominate in the area - it is glaring.  If you are trying to market and grow your region you don't put out this messaging.

Kieran Miller joined the town hall team in "corporate manager" role in November 2020 [she is pictured in the centre of this trio of staffers below]

More here on Kieran Miller:

"Miller was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Allison University and a Masters of Planning degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. For the past 7 years, she’s been working as a planner for the city of Fredericton."

I suppose Ms. Miller still hasn't gotten the memo about this project or worse she has failed to act because the rest of the staff have told her not to do anything to promote the new venue.. but why?

"Miller’s duties will be broad ranging, including “anything that’s not finance or engineering,” according to CAO Jamie Burke. She’ll be responsible for town communications, tourism and business development, as well as recreation."

Why ignore such a great recreation project for the youth in this region Kieran?  Video here:

This latest meeting of the "minds" that did not address [again] the build of a new concrete skatepark project... reminder:  skateboarding is a popular outdoor athletic pursuit among the youth.  The current park is an absolute disgrace and a safety hazard.. It is embarrassing to me that this Town has not dealt with the needed upgrade to create a new larger venue [concrete] park before now.. it is over 10 years overdue .. and as this park now sits in the centre of town near a school and across a field from the Town Hall they are all very well aware there is a problem that isn't being dealt with and needs to be tackled by them.
