Those who would restrict expression on campus conceive the mission and ethos of the university very differently than do those committed to freedom of expression on campus. I’ll try to describe each conception. I’ll ask whether the two sides can find any common ground.

"Social Justice" and its roots in society...

This 'social justice' agenda is not something new although at universities it is the only focus at this point and it is cult-like in its dividing & conquering of minds into sides.. keeping people focussed on " issues " and in so doing dividing people.. nothing is achieved; division is the status quo and combatants/extremists are cultivated... its unfortunate to witness this first hand in a small town because the culture at the university does spill into the ethos of the town..
