Announcement: Dalhousie University Gets Pro-Active on Housing in Halifax Nova Scotia

"Dalhousie University has begun construction on its first new student residence in more than a decade, with the school saying it has a role to play in helping the local housing crisis.

But the university’s faculty association says the multimillion-dollar project in Halifax does not make sense at a time when the school faces financial issues.

The new L-shaped six-storey building located behind the Dalhousie Arts Centre will house about 213 students in apartment-style units ranging from one to three bedrooms, featuring kitchens and in-suite laundry.

The building is aimed at upper-year undergrad or graduate students, who have said through recent surveys they are looking for this type of housing rather than dorm living."

Fan Appreciation Game Night

Regular season home finale on Fan Appreciation Friday

Friday night is the last regular season home game — and it’s Fan Appreciation Night with lots of prizes & giveaways. Tickets are going fast!

We will honour our graduating 20 year-old players — Dyllan Gill, Markus Vidicek & Mathis Rousseau — in a short pre-game ceremony.

With 1st place assured and our playoff opponent already dertermined, this game appears to mean nothing BUT the Wildcats are on the verge of setting numerous team records this season. It will be business as usual Friday night, and that means a strong effort from a proud squad looking for their next win.

Alex Mercier & Rudy Guimond made major headlines last week — both were named to the QMJHL Team of the Week and CHL Team of the Week. Mercier put up 8 points (6G, 2A) in 3 games and also earned QMJHL Player of the Week honours. Rudy Guimond won both his starts, posting his 3rd

Bending To The Will Of A Very Vocal Shrill Minority in Halifax Nova Scotia

Advancing the 'agenda' with more preferential treatment and land grabbing ... government-funded handouts, gibsmedats, endless payouts, etc.. now...

purchasing property for $1 for a native project...

amazingly the name of the city has been changed to Kjipuktuk by just a small number of people... why?

𝐌𝐢'𝐤𝐦𝐚𝐰 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝
The Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre now has land secured for its new centre. HRM sold the property at 1940 Gottingen Street to the Friendship Centre for $1. A staff report had appraised the old Red Cross site at $11.7 million.
The Friendship Centre said the new location will allow it to better serve the more than 7,000 Indigenous people living in Kjipuktuk, aka Halifax.

"In October, the federal government gave $28.8 million to help with construction costs of a new Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre. Another $4 million in federal money for the project was announced in May 2022."

Millions and millions of dollars for just over 7,000 people is called special interest pandering... in an age of homelessness, hunger, poverty, unemployment and many people struggling to get through their days due to inflation and strife... this sort of building project is very wasteful, unnecessary and corrupt but the taxpayers are never asked about these expenditures are they?  You could build a lot of housing for $35million... for low income people struggling.
Where's the government strategy to address this very real problem in Halifax and elsewhere?  There isn't one.  Its about priorities and the importance of beneficial spending.

The historic Halifax of old is disappearing and the 'woke east coast city' is here.... pity.

Founder of Halifax... Edward Cornwallis [status was removed by the outrage culture] - white Europeans are offensive.. but.. more importantly, we all need to understand the vocal shrill minority and their demands, needs, wants, desires, requirements... that's the new Canada Trudeau has brought:

Some people have suggested I add a 'donate' button to my blogger but I much prefer to work and learn and study and report without the influence of the monetary system... that way its a pure artform provided here... but I'm tickled to see anarchists requesting money for their efforts, what a laugh.

I'm not sure what happens in their minds when they abolish the police but I watch with interest all the same... like a slow-motion train wreck in progress:

Likely avoiding the cities like Halifax is probably a good idea at this point culturally speaking just not my cup of tea... peace out:

Alan North writes on "Broadmoor Manor" on Facebook:

Broadmoor Manor had a sibling in Halifax on Young Avenue, also designed by Edmund Burke, and built around the same time, for George Campbell. Its foundation was made from red Shediac sandstone. It had numerous other character defining elements, and a distinguished history, which included the Canadian military. Its heritage protection application was underway when the developer who bought it then rushed to demolish it, even as tenants still lived in it.. The developer also bought the adjacent mansion Ardnamara, also demolished. As a result of his actions, Young Avenue was named to the National Trust of Canada's "10 most Endangered Places in Canada, 2017").

"Born at Pickering Beach, Ontario, he was raised by his paternal grandparents A. J. Corbet II and Alice Charlotte Corbet (née Gould) in both Toronto and the suburbs. His family are direct descendants of a prominent Corbet family of Guernsey, Channel Islands. At a very young age, he developed a strong interest in the fine arts. Due to increasingly ill health, chronic asthma, by the age of 14 he was not able to participate in regular sports like most children his age, his grandparents along with his great uncle and aunt strongly encouraged him to paint and sculpt often taking him on tours of museums and art galleries to study the Canadian Masters. The Corbet family also knew many notable Canadian artists to include [Isabel McLaughlin], [Frances Loring], [Florence Wyle] among others.

As Corbet's artistic career was just commencing in 1999 he was struck with the tragic death of his mother Alberta Charlotte Stevens whose body was found in a remote barren field near Orangeville, Ontario. The passing of his mother was regarded as a suspicious suicide."
