Great Railway Escapes Start at Via Rail Train Station in Sackville New Brunswick

Visitors can arrive in our historic town by train as they would have many years ago.. and while here enjoy all that the town has to offer.. and there's a lot... its a picturesque, old, appealing little enclave.

More on the schedule of train trips through our town on Via Rail's passenger service:  Book a Trip | VIA Rail

Trains to Moncton are on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday @ 16:25
Trains to Halifax are on Monday, Thursday, Saturday @ 14:26
Go explore the Maritimes by hopping onboard Via Rail trains.
Tickets cost is $25-30.

The Town of Sackville was reportedly looking for interest in refurbishing/renovating/re-purposing the Via Rail train building which sits unused and unoccupied at this time.  The building was mentioned in a recent town hall meeting by Councillor Estabrooks as a location he would like to see recycled into a useful venue.

Some of us had the idea to have this location become a new youth centre with concrete skatepark for Tantramar Skate Park Project that had been requested in 2013 and also promoted on Facebook since 2015... [but that account was suspended]... there is a blog at http://tantramarskateparkproject.blogspot.ca ...

It sure would be a great addition and a good place to welcome Sackville's 'forgotten skateboarding youth' who since presenting in the summer of 2013 before town council and mayor have been completely ignored on their ask for a new concrete skatepark venue project.  A few creative and energetic Parks & Rec town hall staff could work at this project and get involved in shaping this project as it could really be a plus for the townsfolks. I don't think we have those sort of staff to be honest - they have been hijacked by the green mafia in our town.  The number of town hall staff has increased but their overall output is still unimpressive.

Who knew a concrete skatepark project would be such an impossible ask?  Mayor of Tantramar Andrew Black has the opportunity to champion this project in his elected term as "his legacy project" but the question is "will he get 'er done?"  Time will tell. Find Black @

Meanwhile, at the campus of Mount Allison University aka "The Bubble People"...

Some folks are great at the art of the grift...
take for example newly arrived from Pittsburgh in 2022 Rachel Rubin already on the take here.. initially reported at $65million but now an $85million price tag for a pet project on campus.. you have stand in awe at these big time grabblers.. amiright?

sources:

I do wonder how the rest of the campus folks that weren't 'surveyed' feel about this very expensive level of campus disruption/ messy destruction/chaos being brought about because of Rachel Rubin's ideas? Jeff's parting gift to the campus - another well trained change agent:

"Mount Allison Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research Dr. Jeff Hennessy says Rubin’s combination of work experience in different library settings and education in organizational citizenship behaviour and the liberal arts are ideal in this role."
