Old, Entitled, Bossy, Environmentalist, White Guys in Sackville New Brunswick... Are They An Expensive Problem?

Why was 'Richard' shown below able to skip his newly conceived and costly to the public Quarry Park project in town ahead of an over decade old request by the group of youth [postering above] who presented in the Town Hall 14 years ago politely asking for a new skatepark venue project and also why did he get to jump ahead of the much-needed elevator project at the ice rink - - an essential much needed asset?  Long before the arrival of well paid but out-of-touch Matt Pryde Parks & Rec. town hall employee for over a decade the youth here were encouraged to "organize" and present before the Town Councillors and Mayor about their skatepark project... so they did [about a dozen of them].  I'm concerned that some people here are actually far too "entitled" and far too "demanding" and in fact they are unreasonably and unfairly prioritized here in Sackville over the reasonable requests of the not-so-entitled working class taxpayers here ... and that these "entitled" people in many cases are fanatic climate change hysterics/environmentalists and they don't actually care about youth or people and feel that they don't need to wait their turn in the line-up of requests.  Its not as though there is a shortage of parks and trails in this town and region already Richard .. is it.. so what's the deal here.. you're back in the Town Hall asking for more now?

More here with the very "demanding" Richard:

Great Railway Escapes Start at Via Rail Train Station in Sackville New Brunswick

Visitors can arrive in our historic town by train as they would have many years ago.. and while here enjoy all that the town has to offer.. and there's a lot... its a picturesque, old, appealing little enclave.

More on the schedule of train trips through our town on Via Rail's passenger service:  Book a Trip | VIA Rail

Trains to Moncton are on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday @ 16:25
Trains to Halifax are on Monday, Thursday, Saturday @ 14:26
Go explore the Maritimes by hopping onboard Via Rail trains.
Tickets cost is $25-30.

The Town of Sackville was reportedly looking for interest in refurbishing/renovating/re-purposing the Via Rail train building which sits unused and unoccupied at this time.  The building was mentioned in a recent town hall meeting by Councillor Estabrooks as a location he would like to see recycled into a useful venue.

Photography by THE Indie Media Eastcoast at Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia's Skatepark which is attached to their waterfowl park..

Some of us had the idea to have this location become a new youth centre with concrete skatepark for Tantramar Skate Park Project that had been requested in 2012 and also promoted on Facebook since 2015... [but that account was suspended]... there is a blog at http://tantramarskateparkproject.blogspot.ca ...

It sure would be a great addition and a good place to welcome Sackville's 'forgotten skateboarding youth' who since presenting in the summer of 2012 before town council and mayor have been completely ignored on their ask for a new concrete skatepark venue project.  A few creative and energetic Parks & Rec town hall staff could work at this project and get involved in shaping this project as it could really be a plus for the town folks. I don't think we have those sort of staff to be honest - they have been hijacked by the green mafia in our town.  The number of town hall staff has increased but their overall output is still unimpressive.

Who knew a concrete skatepark project would be such an impossible ask?  Mayor of Tantramar Andrew Black has the opportunity to champion this project in his elected term as "his legacy project" but the question is "will he get 'er done?"  Time will tell. Find Black @

Meanwhile, at the campus of Mount Allison University aka "The Bubble People"...

Some folks are great at the art of the grift...
take for example newly arrived from Pittsburgh in 2022 Rachel Rubin already on the take here.. initially reported at $65million but now an $85million price tag for a pet project on campus.. you have stand in awe at these big time grabblers.. amiright?

sources:

I do wonder how the rest of the campus folks that weren't 'surveyed' feel about this very expensive level of campus disruption/ messy destruction/chaos being brought about because of Rachel Rubin's ideas? Jeff's parting gift to the campus - another well trained change agent:

"Mount Allison Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research Dr. Jeff Hennessy says Rubin’s combination of work experience in different library settings and education in organizational citizenship behaviour and the liberal arts are ideal in this role."

Note:  Why do I call them the "Bubble people" at Mount Allison University?
They've got a hell of a big budget for signage.. must be real nice for them.

Hey Folks! What Excites Andrew Black? Grant Money for Mount Allison University Grifters

I've fixed their Town of Tantramar meme for them...

you're welcome Andrew Black... one phone call to Sandra Snow in Kentville to find out how a Mayor gets a new great skatepark built is all it takes.. but for now... Black continues to play to his "Envirocrat" voter base.

Years ago before Black even considered entering politics he told me the Town don't care about the young people and their request for a skatepark because they don't vote here.  Ha! What a goof.

Andrew Black is examined at this blog link [ if I was on Facebook I would have let him know online.. Indie Media Eastcoast had well over 500 followers when killed by the 'community' mob here years ago - Andrew thinks the censorship of me is amusing]:

Tantramar Skate Park Project : Follow Andrew Black on Facebook To Find Out What Excites Him

I see you TantramarNB Twitter fascists, as always.

Any guesses who runs their Twitter account?

Ron Kelly Spurles, the Town's Tourism manager is married to a local university professor... they're a dramatic and coddled entitled duo...

and they are featured in the local 'News' here:

Ponds Projects Trump Skate Park Concrete Project since 2013.... Regime Change Needed at Town Hall

Sackville flood project more than $500K over budget unless changes are made | (warktimes.com)

When you consider that you could build a great concrete skatepark for a one-time expense of half a million bucks its just so tragic to see the money continue to flow into more pointless ponds.... it is as though there is a collective madness controlling the minions at the Palace... who benefits?

Percy Best's commentary here:

"Percy Best says:

Jon, the only one that seems to indicate that retention ponds are the way to go would be the ones that profit from the project itself. One does not need retention ponds of any size when there is only a five hour time slot, twice a day, while gates of a proper sized aboiteau are actually closed because of the salt water tide cycle. A generous ditch system itself would almost be enough to handle any five hour backup, and a proper sized aboiteau, as recommended in the very thorough HILCON report, would then open to allow full drainage over the next approximately seven hours. This would happen twice a day of course.

HILCON did not recommend any retention ponds. The NB Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, that now maintain all the dyking system for NB did not recommend any retention ponds. For some ‘strange reason’ it seems that Crandall Engineering (Englobe) said that the town needs enough water retention for a full 24 hours, and not just for the 5 hours twice a day that an aboiteau gate is closed. It is interesting that the bottom of the newly proposed retention pond behind the Community Garden is going to be FOUR METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL. That should tell you something.

The little tiny aboiteau (AB-01) in behind Russell Metals, that the town storm water is headed towards,is an very old wooden one that is only 18″ square, and that is not much bigger than a standard driveway culvert. There is no commitment from DTI to replace this abouteau with a larger one. I would imagine that they are now awaiting confirmation that the Chignecto Isthmus Project will indeed go ahead and that will make all aboiteau completely redundant. It would cost somewhere in the vicinity of half a million dollars to replace aboiteau AB-01 with a new larger one.

There will be NO water retained in town once the Chignecto Isthmus Project is completed as the drainage pipes leading to the Tantramar river will be open 24/7 with no restriction whatsoever. A new triple gate system at the mouth of the Tantramar River (Wood Report) will effectively make the Tantramar River a bit of a freshwater lake, similar to what the river is inland from the current double gate beside the TCH at Exit 506. If one looks at the water level that is under the Wheaton Covered Bridge, on the High Marsh Road, then one will basically see what our Tantramar River will be all the way out to the new gate system."

"According to figures supplied to Warktimes by Acting Treasurer Michael Beal, the project could come in $566,905 over budget unless modifications are made to the final contract."

Old town hall photography by Indie Media Eastcoast..

Its a corrupt and lawless bunch who runs things around here... they waste a lot of money... this was the previous town hall and it was fine for a small town when I arrived here in 2010... but they spent over $14million on their new government Town Hall Palace without any regard for other priorities ... this "Agenda" is all about optics and appearing 'green' and not much else.  Pathetic.

Does anything change with a new mayor? Not really.. I don't even know if Andrew Black has any idea what to do for the people here.. he's too busy promoting the 'Agenda' of the United Nations for the mafia he works for ...

On my way to Ottawa to the Sustainable Communities Conference for the next three days. Both Sackville and Dorchester will be recognized with an award for hitting level 5 (the highest level) of the Partners for Climate Protection. Our communities have worked incredibly hard on reducing GHG levels on the municipal front, setting goals and surpassing them.
I'm looking forward to accepting these awards on behalf of the Town of Tantramar and also taking in workshops and plenary sessions that the conference has to offer. Stay tuned!!

Sackville's Endless Drive to Build More Monuments [ Wasting Even More Money ]

At this link from CHMA website:

Heritage Trust hopes to commemorate Sackville foundries by turning steel press into monument » CHMA 106.9 FM (chmafm.com)

Never let it be said that the 'community organizers' of Sackville have a problem wasting other peoples' money on stuff that clutters the landscape.

New book documents life of Sackville's foundries in time for 170th and 150th anniversaries » CHMA 106.9 FM (chmafm.com)

Just don't ask them to get excited about building an Energy East Pipeline or Skatepark Project... God forbid their efforts should be for something beneficial and useful for the people alive today.

Book Launch - Foundries of Sackville, NB - Tantramar Heritage Trust

Why do they hide their monument to the founder of the local University behind a wall of shrubs and trees? Just asking for a friend.

Amherst Nova Scotia's awesome concrete skatepark venue - photography by Indie Media Eastcoast.

Just to put things into perspective around here and for the record:

One old woman stands before council and mayor this year and says she wants to see money given for a monument to be built and everyone says 'hey great idea!'... but in 2013 over a dozen young people stood before council asking for a new venue they could enjoy endless hours of play and good clean fun at with their many friends and other skateboard enthusiasts from across the Maritimes and the mayor and council ignore them completely.

This is in a nutshell what is wrong with this town:

the management sucks; the politicians suck.

The 'community' would do well to grasp the term ROI - return on investment .. as explained to Michael Beal, treasurer/bean-counter at the Town Hall this week...  Michael's wondering if he still has a job when the entity "Town of Tantramar" takes over here.. I guess only time will tell Michael.

Should I really need to keep reminding people that investing in a new concrete youth skatepark makes good sense and is the right project to build here now... in fact it was the right project 10 years ago but the well-paid minions in Town Hall wasted money on decorations and nonsense instead [$10,000 flower pots, still shaking my head...]

Tantramar Landowners ..: Great Skate Parks Make Great Towns ~ Tantramar Skate Park Project

Tantramar Landowners ..: Great Skate Parks Make Great Towns ~ Tantramar's 2...: What they did FOR THE YOUTH in Kentville Nova Scotia... we will be able to achieve here as well.. Its in our nature to build... to create.. ...

Well done Mayor Sandra Snow in Kentville Nova Scotia -- this is a really great skatepark project and its very much something the Town of Sackville needs to do for its growth and development... maybe our new Mayor Mesheau could pick up the phone and give Sandra a call to find out how it gets done!?  I could not get Mayor Higham's attention on this project during his term, unfortunately...
I phoned up Sandra Snow this past year and she was kind enough to talk me for a while about their project and much more... including life in politics.

I found Mayor Sandra Snow to be very intelligent, honest, positive, kind, concerned, engaged, cheerful and dedicated -- she won her second term as Mayor by acclamation...  her background work history is aviation military.. she is a very accomplished and capable woman!  Thanks Sandra Snow -- the youth for many years to come will benefit from your legacy project -- a great concrete skatepark!

This was the project board artwork rendering I saw when I last visited their town a few years back...
Sandra's Facebook page has a video of the completed project, check it out here:

Shifting focus to creating things of beauty,
benefit to many townsfolk, visitors,
and living life fearlessly is needed in 2021...
will this town meet that challenge?
This great project is long overdue...
and I'm just the messenger for the youth.
I'd like to see this happen here.. soon.

Great Skateparks Make Great Towns....
