which well represented Canada for such a long time and had a purpose to the "red and white maple leaf" flag was such a big deal and a show of the end of a connection to their European roots that Canadians have traditionally celebrated.
It's called 'culture shifting' .. that's what the contribution was by George Stanley, he was an academic and an influencer in his lifetime. George would have witnessed the deliberate demographic shift from when Canada was 96% European race population in the early 1970s to when the policy of "multiculturalism" was added as "a national experiment without consent ". The artist also did a giant heron and ducks sculpture art piece for the Town in front of the "Sally Anne" store previous to this installation https://christiantothart.com/projects/6241322
It would be great if the Town management saw a skatepark as a work of art that is functional.. perhaps they need to adjust their 'viewing lense' on this #TANTRAMAR SKATE PARK PROJECT...
Rotary boomer John Murchie ran for Mayor in 2012 and supported the project but didn't win..

As the town already has a very nice black marble monument to George Stanley dedicated in 1995 when he was alive--its in front of the town's public library--yet they went ahead for 'Canada 150' and spent even more money on another monument just a block away... why?
Why not advocate for a solid constructive useful PROJECT... a value added enhancement project..?
I say: Honouring the living here is just as important.. especially our youth ... and the amount of money this town wastes on decorative "fluffy" stuff is becoming a little absurd especially in the face of the 'management's' mantra that "there is no money for a great concrete skatepark" [there most certainly is money] ..... see the blog post https://sackvilleuncensored.blogspot.com/2018/08/new-statue-installed-for-george-stanley.html
This is what a real skatepark looks like - Moncton Skate Park - by the river side.. its awesome!
Here are the people who build skateparks... Propour Concrete Services [Steve]...
and Bill Gurney @ New Line Skateparks.. I met them both when I visited their site build in Kentville Nova Scotia -- they created a truly awesome park there for the youth ... it is a great venue!!!

Added commentary to this article...
"Its not a real skatepark .. and I am sorry that people don’t understand the sport enough to know that .. especially Andrew Black .. a real skatepark would be used and enjoyed and perhaps have some sun shelter as Moncton does … its important to understand the blatant lack of regard for the project for a concrete skatepark goes back at least 30 years plus .. to Duncan – one of the guys behind the Frisbee Golf Park could fill Bruce Wark in on the details of his attempts in his youth to get a park .. and more recently Mark Iglioriote an avid skater, artist instructor, father and advocate for the youth — for a few summers the town paid a youth to be a skatepark supervisor who would play with, teach, and hang out with the youth there .. then there was Ethan Sears' – son of former Mayor Pat Estabrooks -- youth group that made a great presentation to our town council and mayor in the summer of 2013 – they even had matching tshirts and showed enthusiasm for a REAL SKATEPARK BUILD ... they were ignored .. and most have grown up and left town .. so its just got to be a project LED by an adult who lives here .. me .. a mother of two teens who grew up skateboarding and longboarding in this town .. so I put up posters, talked to people, asked for others 'leaders in town' to help, and I pushed the project as best I could despite being blocked by the Town on facebook since 2015 for asking a question… hence the “Sackville Uncensored” to push against censorship around here in a small town that prides itself of being “community minded” and “inclusive” I can assure that it is not a true description…https://sackvilleuncensored.blogspot.com/2019/04/skateparks-not-monuments-for-sackville.html "
