Bruce Wark on NB Power Plant in Tantramar [Proposed]

At this link:

EUB holds 1st day of hearings on NB Power’s proposed gas/diesel plant on the Isthmus |

commentary here:

Carol says:

"Thanks again Bruce for your excellent reporting! You have helped me better understand all the intricacies around how NB Power is scheming to avoid this American-owned Gas/Diesel plant being considered a capital project which would then make it subject to EUB rules and assessments.

More power to Alain Chiasson, the Public Intervener who is looking out for the interests of NB ratepayers!"

Recommended listening as well to this one from APTN News:

S.A. Cunliffe says:

"Carol, check out this AFN Annual General Assembly Day 1 Afternoon video from APTN News to understand the financial and economic work and partnerships that are taking place.. its rather intricate indeed!

Sackville's Endless Drive to Build More Monuments [ Wasting Even More Money ]

At this link from CHMA website:

Heritage Trust hopes to commemorate Sackville foundries by turning steel press into monument » CHMA 106.9 FM (chmafm.com)

Never let it be said that the 'community organizers' of Sackville have a problem wasting other peoples' money on stuff that clutters the landscape.

New book documents life of Sackville's foundries in time for 170th and 150th anniversaries » CHMA 106.9 FM (chmafm.com)

Just don't ask them to get excited about building an Energy East Pipeline or Skatepark Project... God forbid their efforts should be for something beneficial and useful for the people alive today.

Book Launch - Foundries of Sackville, NB - Tantramar Heritage Trust

Why do they hide their monument to the founder of the local University behind a wall of shrubs and trees? Just asking for a friend.

Amherst Nova Scotia's awesome concrete skatepark venue - photography by Indie Media Eastcoast.

Just to put things into perspective around here and for the record:

One old woman stands before council and mayor this year and says she wants to see money given for a monument to be built and everyone says 'hey great idea!'... but in 2013 over a dozen young people stood before council asking for a new venue they could enjoy endless hours of play and good clean fun at with their many friends and other skateboard enthusiasts from across the Maritimes and the mayor and council ignore them completely.

This is in a nutshell what is wrong with this town:

the management sucks; the politicians suck.

The 'community' would do well to grasp the term ROI - return on investment .. as explained to Michael Beal, treasurer/bean-counter at the Town Hall this week...  Michael's wondering if he still has a job when the entity "Town of Tantramar" takes over here.. I guess only time will tell Michael.

Should I really need to keep reminding people that investing in a new concrete youth skatepark makes good sense and is the right project to build here now... in fact it was the right project 10 years ago but the well-paid minions in Town Hall wasted money on decorations and nonsense instead [$10,000 flower pots, still shaking my head...]

We take pitches on an ongoing basis. We generally pay $100 for stories by individuals without much writing exp. and $200 for stories by writers/journos with some exp., which is an above average rate for a Canadian digital outlet. We may pay more for larger pieces/investigations.

Some people seem to think we are announcing our intention to banish an entire ethnic group from our country with the ‘Beware The Parasitic Tribe’ video. This is a misinterpretation and has never been our intention.

Skatepark Project Build Time - Not More Monuments for Sackville NB

Remembering SOME people is important around here because some are more important than others ... honouring only certain people is also educational and you should ask yourself why we CELEBRATE changing the national flag from the "Red Ensign"....

which well represented Canada for such a long time and had a purpose to the "red and white maple leaf" flag was such a big deal and a show of  the end of a connection to their European roots that Canadians have traditionally celebrated.

It's called 'culture shifting' .. that's what the contribution was by George Stanley, he was an academic and an influencer in his lifetime.  George would have witnessed the deliberate demographic shift from when Canada was 96% European race population in the early 1970s to when the policy of "multiculturalism" was added as "a national experiment without consent ".  Please read best-selling book "Canada in Decay:  Mass Immigration, Diversity & The Ethnocide of EuroCanadians" by founder of "Council of European Canadians" and best-selling author at UNB Saint John Campus Professor Ricardo Duchesne.. at this link:

The artist also did a giant heron and ducks sculpture art piece for the Town in front of the "Sally Anne" store previous to this installation https://christiantothart.com/projects/6241322

It would be great if the Town management saw a skatepark as a work of art that is functional.. perhaps they need to adjust their 'viewing lense' on this #TANTRAMAR SKATE PARK PROJECT...

Rotary boomer John Murchie ran for Mayor in 2012 and supported the project but didn't win..
https://tantramarlandownersassociation.blogspot.com/2018/11/john-murchie-rotarian-mayoral-candidate.html

As the town already has a very nice black marble monument to George Stanley dedicated in 1995 when he was alive--its in front of the town's public library--yet they went ahead for 'Canada 150' and spent even more money on another monument just a block away... why?

Why not advocate for a solid constructive useful PROJECT... a value added enhancement project..?
I say:  Honouring the living here is just as important.. especially our youth ... and the amount of money this town wastes on decorative "fluffy" stuff is becoming a little absurd especially in the face of the 'management's' mantra that "there is no money for a great concrete skatepark" [there most certainly is money] ..... see the blog post https://sackvilleuncensored.blogspot.com/2018/08/new-statue-installed-for-george-stanley.html

This is what a real skatepark looks like - Moncton Skate Park - by the river side.. its awesome!

Here are the people who build skateparks... Propour Concrete Services [Steve]...

and Bill Gurney @ New Line Skateparks.. I met them both when I visited their site build in Kentville Nova Scotia -- they created a truly awesome park there for the youth ... it is a great venue!!!

Added commentary to this article...

"Its not a real skatepark .. and I am sorry that people don’t understand the sport enough to know that .. especially Andrew Black .. a real skatepark would be used and enjoyed and perhaps have some sun shelter as Moncton does … its important to understand the blatant lack of regard for the project for a concrete skatepark goes back at least 30 years plus .. to Duncan – one of the guys behind the Frisbee Golf Park could fill Bruce Wark in on the details of his attempts in his youth to get a park .. and more recently Mark Iglioriote an avid skater, artist instructor, father and advocate for the youth — for a few summers the town paid a youth to be a skatepark supervisor who would play with, teach, and hang out with the youth there .. then there was Ethan Sears' – son of former Mayor Pat Estabrooks -- youth group that made a great presentation to our town council and mayor in the summer of 2013 – they even had matching tshirts and showed enthusiasm for a REAL SKATEPARK BUILD ... they were ignored .. and most have grown up and left town .. so its just got to be a project LED by an adult who lives here .. me .. a mother of two teens who grew up skateboarding and longboarding in this town .. so I put up posters, talked to people, asked for others 'leaders in town' to help, and I pushed the project as best I could despite being blocked by the Town on facebook since 2015 for asking a question… hence the “Sackville Uncensored” to push against censorship around here in a small town that prides itself of being “community minded” and “inclusive” I can assure that it is not a true description…https://sackvilleuncensored.blogspot.com/2019/04/skateparks-not-monuments-for-sackville.html "
