This week’s episode takes us off the island for a bit. I head out with our good friend Gord, who’s been a regular on here, and we take his boat out to scout some nice big logs. After finding what we need, we continue on to Gord’s hometown of Rushoon, where he’s got a proper bandsaw mill set up. We spend the day milling up a pile of lumber, load everything onto the boat, and make the haul back across the ocean to our little home on the island. Back at the homestead, Kelly heads up to feed the goats and finally gives them their names—names that came straight from you in the comments. One by one, she introduces them all, and just like that, the goats feel even more like part of the family. With spring creeping in, I start breaking ground for what will eventually become our off-grid blacksmith shop. There’s no machinery out here, so it’s shovel, pickaxe, and a lot of patience. Then comes a big milestone—something we’ve been working toward for a while now. I head back to the water line and finally finish the last stretch into the house. After who knows how many years, we now have running water inside. No pumps, no power—just gravity and persistence. It might seem small, but to us, it’s huge. We close out the episode with a trip across the water aboard the Cape Millie. Kelly packs up five of her handmade sea glass necklaces, and we head over to Bain Harbour to mail them out to some of you who’ve been following along. On the way, we do a little Q&A on the boat, chatting and answering questions from the comments. It’s been a full week of progress, hard work, and small wins—and we’re grateful to have you all along for the ride.

If you fire Ron Kelly Spurles for incompetence on the job would anyone around here care?

Think about it.  Think about employing people that actually care about the business operators that exist in this town.  Mike Wilson would probably win in a Court case if he was forced to sue the Town and Ron Kelly Spurles for their incompetence... but that should not be necessary; the optics here are the Town is operating in bad faith due to incompetent staffers and this is a BAD LOOK for the region trying to grow and attract businesses.

Ten years is a long time at the trough as a very well paid staffer...  WHY did Ron Kelly Spurles NEGLECT to advise Mike Wilson about this programme?

This was started right here in NB and has made significant impacts in the communities they are in and the hope is that it can help communities across the country as the program is potentially adopted"

How prepared are your politicians for what's coming? Not very well prepared at all.. and that's one of the drawbacks of operating in an echo chamber of "professional" grifters and troughers who only seek their own enrichment.

It’s finally happening—we brought our first animals to the island! After days of building fences and prepping the shelter, we loaded up four little goats onto the deck of our boat, Cape Millie, and made the journey back across the ocean to our off-grid home on the island. Once the goats were safely settled into their new forest pen, we jumped into our next big upgrade: a gravity-fed water system. We started building a setup that will bring fresh water into the goat pen, the house, and eventually the rest of the farm. It’s the first real step toward creating a self-sufficient homestead. Later in the episode, Kelly shares a new original song—something she just finished writing and performs here on video for the very first time. It’s a special moment we’re excited to share with everyone following our journey. As always, we wrap things up with a Q&A at the kitchen table, answering some of your top questions from the comments.
