Gosh Golly - What Could Possibly Go Wrong With MTI Efforts ?

New Brunswick corporation / non-profit organization known as "MTI" has indeed commenced an attempt at a land claim that is being downplayed by certain "media" types as to what is actually going on with New Brunswick natives and lawyers and it is unfortunate. As I witnessed a local speak at the "All Candidates Forum for Beausejour" organized by Carol Cooke earlier this month [speaking as an unnamed member of nearby Fort Folly] and state that this land claim story was just Blaine Higgs fear-mongering talk -- but in truth there is a legal claim as noted in the CBC News [formerly Global News] reporter Silas Brown Tweet made last year and shown above..... as well there is a website and a Facebook page for "MTI" ... learn more here:  MTI - Mi'gmawe'l Tplu'taqnn Inc. | Facebook

Mi'kmaw First Nations expand Aboriginal title claim to include almost all of N.B. | CBC News

"Eight Mi'kmaw communities in New Brunswick represented by Mi'gmawe'l Tplu'taqnn Inc. "are formally asserting title to lands and waters in New Brunswick," according to a news release from MTI on Wednesday.

The group said the move is "another step in the process to reasserting jurisdiction over lands and waters within our territory. This is a step towards self-determination and full recognition of our rights."

The claim builds on a 2016 action by Elsipogtog First Nation, a Mi'kmaw community formerly called Big Cove.

The new claim represents the other eight Mi'kmaw communities in the province, explained Dean Vicaire, executive director for MTI. "
