New Flower Moon Welcomes New Faces on Council in 2026 in "Unceded" Tantramar.. or is it?

Report from Bruce Wark found here:

Debbie Wiggins-Colwell is Tantramar’s new mayor as voters turn to several fresh faces |

Brand-new to politics faces will be sitting around the council chambers' roundtable in 2026 including Wayne Wells, Tori Weldon, Kristen Leblanc, Haidee Robinson, and Alyssa Greene and as well some returning familiar faces including Mayor Debbie Wiggins-Colwell, Barry Hicks, Allison Butcher, and Josh Goguen.

Young Anti-Capitalist Green Tantramar MLA Megan Mitton [above] let's us all know her position on our lands and our status in New Brunswick.. what could possibly go wrong and how secure is the non-native land holding in our province? What is race based law? What is "MTI"?

Very important legal discussions are now to be had around key issues of land claims, land acknowledgements and its as easy as collectively agreeing "we are not doing land acknowledgements in Tantramar ".. and my hope is that our new duly elected local politicians have those discussions with each other and with the voters and with Susan Holt the Premier of New Brunswick - read more here:

Mount Allison University has it own uniquely "international" belief system, and its own separate culture that is not the same as the traditional culture and real history of a long time established society going back to the 1700s with many generations of residents born and raised here in our region .. so keep that in mind.  Push back now.

Not a single crew member remains in the elected council now from the original 2012 group: success.

Bruce Phinney, Bill Evans, Ron Aitken, Mike Tower, Shawn Mesheau, Ron Corbett [deceased], Marg T. King, Mayor Bob Berry [deceased] and Joyce McNeil.

Tori Weldon Running for Town Councillor - Candidate for Ward 3 - Tantramar Election May 11th, 2026

Follow Tori Weldon on her X account..

ToriWeldon on X: "Looking for a new podcast? I'm hosting a new one called Speed to Modern Tech. This episode looks at: How AI is being used to combat the counterfeit boom. @pacificcontent, @safastories @hintonburg @annierueter1 https://t.co/t2iBZ9XBZV" / X

... not all our local politicians are accountable to the public and even bother to use this social media platform but maybe its time that they should.. not everyone is using Facebook as it turns out.

Think:  radical collaborations.

More here on Tori Weldon and the other election candidates at Bruce Wark's local website article this week:

Three-way race for mayor in Tantramar as 18 candidates seek council seats with one acclamation |

"Tori Weldon

“I’m a journalist, communications professional and small business owner who has spent years covering municipal governments in New Brunswick,” Ward 3 candidate Tori Weldon writes in her e-mail to Warktimes.

“As a former reporter, I’ve spent many hours in municipal council meetings. I know my way around a budget, what a functioning council looks like, and I’ve seen what happens when problems are left to fester,” she adds.

“I’m running for council because I have the experience with municipal politics to hit the ground running. My youngest kids are in high school and I’m at a point in my career where I have time to dedicate to the community,” Weldon writes.

“I’m not claiming to have all the answers but I know the right questions to ask, I know where to look for good information, and I understand the importance of being honest with people about what our options are.”

She says she currently runs The Weldon Agency, a podcast production and consulting business that works with companies such as RBC, Morgan Stanley and Dell Technologies."

“I’ve lived in Tantramar most of my life, my family is from here,  I’m raising my kids here. I’ve watched Tantramar change, and I care deeply about where it’s headed,” she writes.

“I also know firsthand how frustrating it is when institutions go quiet. The public deserves to know everything that can be shared, promptly and clearly. If elected, I’ll do everything in my power to keep the people of Tantramar informed.  They deserve to have their concerns and questions heard and taken seriously.”

Election Day is May 11, 2026 in New Brunswick.. thinking of running?

more here:  Elections New Brunswick, Canada

Think of how great it would be to take part in the local Town Hall shenanigans, make policy and influence decision making AND have another $2,000 per month to spend for joining Team Tantramar!
I would LOVE to see some under 35 year old candidates to liven things up and bring a new energy and ideas to the Town Hall.
