A First in Canada? "Detention Ponds" with Tantramar's Engineering Department.. Where's the Hustle?

As the new development off Queen's Road [Sheppard Lane] -- a multi-unit housing project -- moves along the Town's engineer Mr. Eppell gave insights last night into what the neighbourhood's newest feature ["detention ponds"] may also be used for when it comes to misbehaving students [or local staff at Town Hall & politicians] at the nearby Salem Elementary.

Alternatively, we are told that these ponds could continue to be placed around for the region randomly [and at the high cost to the taxpayers in the millions of dollars] at the Town Hall staffer's discretion and will more likely be called "Retention Ponds".

Are we to understand that the desire for new housing and how we were told it is much-needed [in Mayor Black's "housing sessions"] and a focus to get more of it built back in 2024 in the town is not now a priority at all? It would seem so.. given the lack-lustre attitudes about "getting housing built" of Town Councillors Phinney, Goguen, Butcher, Martin, and Tower and certain staff within the Town Hall?  Town Councillors Matt Estabrooks and Barry Hicks and Deputy Mayor Debbie Wiggins-Colwell showed true empathy and interest in and a desire to support the local Developer of this new project. Slackers Mike Tower and Bruce Phinney should have retired ages ago -- with their long track records of achieving nothing at all...  both are retired boomers who lack vision and are coasting along in a "no hustle" mode.

Because the young people growing up into adulthood here who want to stay in town deserve to be able to access new housing and enjoy all the abundance that the boomers in this town do it should be the norm here that "pro-development" is a very good thing and is to be celebrated.. clearly new and dynamic thinking is needed on this town's elected panel of Town Councillors.. and soon.

NB Housing Minister David Hickey says gov’t trying to balance tenants’ rights with concerns of developers & landlords |

Come on peeps... this is bizarre!? Weren't we all told that a big priority for their elected regime was supporting the building here of new housing? Why the interference now with a new much-needed housing development in our town that is located close to the elementary school [great location].. it just makes no sense.. and it smacks of total  incompetence by the so-called "management" in town... the more staff they hire the less seems to get done here....  If I was the developer in this case I would make a public statement about the unfortunate and unnecessary delays caused by the Town Hall's staff on this project that would benefit the public and deserved to be supported 100%.  There should have been 144 units already created by 2020 at that location.. government are sadly getting in the way of prosperity and development.

There's probably going to be more to the story soon.. stay tuned.
