An accredited journalist Bruce Wark reports on the goings on at their multi-million dollar 'palace' they call Town Hall... ....where highly paid office minions pretend to 'act for the citizens and the greater good'.. *cough*

“If we get somebody who thinks they are the press and they could have a belief system that is fundamentally different to our strategic plan and our community beliefs, we don’t want to be treating them the same as we’re treating the CBC or CHMA or the Times & Transcript.”

Later, during the public question period, Burke suggested the bylaw definition of “press” would give council more control.

“If there was an individual, maybe it’s a blogger who’s using racist, sexist and other commentary as part of the regular reporting, how do we have the ability to push back a little bit?” he asked.

“Or if somebody wasn’t showing professionalism or respect with the way our meetings are conducted or how they’re respecting individual staff members or members of council.”

Meanwhile, it was nice to [finally] see their metal 'stop' signs and 'do not enter' signs removed from the Town's waterfowl park.  Good move big spenders.

With Rotary Mayor Higham and others staying on for an extended period we’ll get a feel for life in a truly post-democratic nation.. such as China…its called ‘technocracy’ so I wonder if more people will google that word.. sure do hope the Climate Act Plan and Sustainable Sackville Plan don’t leave too awful a taste in the mouths of the lambs who have ignored these local bully technocrats influencing policy and politics for so long… here comes that Brave New World with NB Cannibis instead of soma… its a truly model United Nations little new kind of small town huh?

   So let’s get this straight — the individual who told council last year that he was the main person involved in acquiring land from CN where about 14-thousand tonnes of contaminated soil were discovered, not only does not face consequences for his apparent lack of due diligence, but is instead promoted? Removal of that contaminated soil cost taxpayers more than half a million dollars. Was this example of poor judgment taken into consideration by the headhunting firm or by Town Council when considering who the best candidate was for the CAO position? What is wrong with this picture?

     I would sure like to see the list of “the 64 individuals that formally expressed interest in the role” of our Chief Administrative Officer. It is certainly way past time to set up various Citizens Advisory Committees to assist and oversee the happenings at ‘OUR’ Town Hall.

Tantramar Landowners Association exists because Phil Handrahan CAO hired a few years ago by the Town of Sackville is a technocrat who muzzles taxpayers... and he does it with a creepy smile on his face.... thanks for being a great catalyst Phil... and thanks to your little boot-licker pals with you in the palace I've learned a lot about local governance and technocracy -- you sort of forced me to, didn't you? How much do they pay you? $100K $150K per year?
