I'm not able to communicate online with Andy Mills [originally from England by the sounds of it] but I do see his passion as being note-worthy.  I am neither with Andy, nor against him, I am hoping to have a more important discussion about energy with everyone in the region.. but they haven't shown an interest it would seem in what I have been reporting on here:  GlobalBEM - YouTube

I'm not on the usual social media platforms due to censorship... such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, LinkedIn.. but I am noticing the messaging here.

Shelley Chase is Freaked Out About Tantramar Power Plant in Midgic "Shame Matters"

“Celebrity,” she said. “Celebrity always helps. The social license and the court of public opinion matter. Shame matters,” Chase said.

“So, when I leave here, I’ve worked in the music industry for 30 years, I’m going to call some celebrities,” she added, promising to ask if they would take a public stand against the gas plant.

“I will try to get hold of Jim Cuddy and Matt Andersen and a few other folks that I’ve met,” she said even though they may or may not agree to get involved." -- Shelley Chase, local festival lady who is the organizer of "The Levee on the Lake"

“They’re laughing at us,” he said. “They don’t care about us.”

Andy Mills who worked as a mechanical engineer for most of his career before going into human resources said later that he moved to Canada from England in 1979 and wasn’t that interested in politics until in the last 10 to 15 years he’s seen how politicians are walking all over the people who actually pay their salaries."

Later someone suggested asking for support from the Indigenous rapper Wolf Castle and Meredith Fisher of Seniors from Climate Tantramar mentioned Jeremy Dutcher, the classically trained tenor and composer who is a member of Tobique First Nation.

Juliette Bulmer also reminded the meeting that Seniors for Climate Tantramar will be running an information table on the gas plant at this year’s Fall Fair, gathering at 1 o’clock at the Drew Nursing Home to participate in the Fall Fair Parade and at 3 p.m., staging a crosswalk demonstration at the Bridge and Main traffic lights.

“Everybody is invited,” she said.

Bruce Wark on Meredith Fisher's "bomb" commentary at The New Wark Times - Local Stories

" brucewark says:

OK, so I went back and did find the use of the word “bomb” during a presentation to council on July 14, one year to the day after NB Power announced its plan for a 500 MW gas/diesel plant near Centre Village. The presentation was by Meredith Fisher of Seniors for Climate Tantramar and here’s what she said:

“Exactly one year ago today, a virtual bomb was dropped on Tantramar. Most of us remember the shock and disbelief of the announcement of the RIGS project contracting an American company to build and operate for 25 years of fossil fuel burning with shale gas, also from the U.S. out here.

“To many of us in New Brunswick right now, it seems like there are other of these bombs being dropped on our environment and on our lives in our dear province. The worst part of it is that the bombers are employed by us as leaders to make sound decisions…Our trust in NB Power, our Crown Corporation, is badly eroded. In a few years, the bombers will no longer be responsible for the flawed process they created. They will be gone. Potentially, we will be here in Tantramar. We will be left holding the proverbial bag of an environment that has been irreversibly damaged forever.”

Fisher went on to say: “We can come up with a reasonable option to the RIGS Centre Village project. We do not really wish to take legal action…let’s be partners in decisions about our environment and our energy needs. Let’s do our best as a province to reduce the burning of fossil fuels.”

CBC News - NB Power's Tantramar Gas Power Plant & Indigenous Investment

NB Power's controversial power plant is in the news again with CBC - CEO Lori Clark [below]

At this link:  N.B. Power needed to ‘step above’ normal process on gas plant, CEO says | CBC News

"The 25-year contract with U.S.-based ProEnergy to build a 500-megawatt gas and diesel power plant in a rural area in Tantramar leaves N.B. Power ratepayers exposed to several financial risks, Martin said in his report.

That includes a financial penalty if a planned equity investment agreement with the North Shore Mi'kmaq Tribal Council — initially described as a fait accompli — doesn’t come together."

Last year Bruce Wark reported on this story - more here:

Premier Holt says there are many unanswered questions about proposed NB Power gas plant on the Isthmus |

During a CBC question and answer session last month, Holt said she was encouraged that the project “will be co-owned by a group of different First Nations,” but in Shediac today, she suggested she did not know at the time that there was no Indigenous investment.

Mi’maq Chiefs have since declared the project cannot go ahead without an Indigenous-led, rights impact assessment.

“I didn’t say I look forward to a project that has Indigenous investment,” the premier said, referring to her CBC comments.

“I say we think Indigenous investment is a good thing. That’s something I look for in a lot of different projects.”
