University Students Are Being Treated Like Toddlers Doing Silly Art Projects.... Why?
Megan Mitton MLA stays close to her campus voting base of students found celebrating plastic 'artwork' by young adults. I couldn't even imagine paying many thousands of dollars for a university degree that included making toddler art projects... I wonder if they've been taught how to recycle face masks into artwork yet?

Does New Brunswick create these skilled students? No.. they don't... they put students in schools to make them dumber.. less skilled.. less capable.. less confident.. and demoralized.. this is criminal behaviour by 'management'.
The local highschool here removed their shop class and put in a pond scum study club instead.. this is called stupidity... and its painful to witness to be honest.
When I went to school we were taught real skills for real life and learned practical skills that would make us capable in this life... this is how you prevent the mess we are in now.

Left BBC's Planet Earth to start holistic family homestead
Over a decade ago, Matt Swarbrick and his wife Jenny decided to leave behind city life to “grow cabbages and children” on 80 acres of former quarry land at the North West corner of Wales. Matt had been exploring ecosystems worldwide for shows like BBC's Planet Earth when he realized he wanted to “learn every bird’s nest” in his own corner of the world.
Using a no-dig method that relies on good composting practices, the couple began using permaculture principles of regenerative farming to restore the soil health of the vegetable beds. Today, on just one acre, they can provide produce for 100 families.
On the remainder of the property, they began planting trees to convert pastures into savannah grasslands, or what Matt calls “the most productive ecosystems on earth.” Relying on agroforestry techniques of maximizing highly productive “woodland edges,” they divided the pastures into 35 fields lined with fruit and nut trees. This not only produces a crop but it provides smaller spaces for the rotational grazing of their cows, sheep, and chickens, which in turn improves soil fertility with minimal input.
With a big loan to pay, the couple decided to create a campsite on their property for extra money. Their first small shelter is an affordable take on the traditional Celtic roundhouse. Using cob, straw bale, and lime for walls and sod from the fields for the roof, the circular structure resembles something out of Tolkien's Middle Earth, and they have nicknamed it the hobbit/fairy/witch house.
Inspired by the Viking boats that used to populate the Irish sea (just 2 miles from the property), the couple’s second build, erected in just 6 weeks, is a turf-covered cabin that is “a blend of Viking longhouse and underground hobbit hideaway.”
Despite having to take out a large loan to buy their dream property, the couple said that every venture- the farm, the pastures, the overnight rentals- all pay for themselves. And this is important since one of their goals is to show others that this type of life, and method of farming, is a viable option.

Housing: renting or owning... they both have their benefits and disadvantages... what is concerning is how many people make other peoples' living arrangements into their business... are you paying attention here yet? I don't suppose people on Facebook ever wonder if perhaps the housing shortage and scarcity here was manufactured... that might be asking too much... they do seem quite convinced that pissing and moaning online actually does something though.
The problem is that university students don't use campus housing when they can stay off campus instead... so really the problem was created by the university... perhaps the university should be helping solve the problem they created here in this small town? Perhaps the policy should be that students visiting Sackville to 'study' must remain on the campus in their university allotted housing? Simple fix for a problem some are making complicated here.... and of course, their desire to rent housing off campus creates demand for housing and landlords are 'capitalizing' on that.. but when you consider how many people are happy to take money and generate profits off the students [such as the university administration] is it any wonder that the people in the town who hold properties are hoping to do the same?

Arctic Homestead: 10 years living off the Alaskan wilderness
Jenna and David Jonas have spent most of their lives living off the land. At 17, David built a cabin in the woods of Vermont without power tools and lived there for two years, learning to track animals, identify trees, plants and birds, and to navigate.
He’d paddled thousands of miles in hand-built birch bark canoes and lived for months off wild foods alone when he met his neighbor Jenna (she lived across the creek from his cabin in a “treehouse” dwelling), who’d been exploring the interior of Alaska for few years by boat, ski, dogsled, bike, and foot.
In 2012, they found an ad on Craigslist for private land surrounded by state forest on a bluff above the Tanana River. They saw the potential for year-round food sources and bought the raw land, first living in a wall-tent. After two years on the land, they spent 3 weeks building a more permanent earthlodge: digging deep into the hill to take advantage of the relative warmth of the earth, using plentiful spruce trunks to line the home, covering it in sod for insulation and facing it due south for passive solar gain.
Two years later, they began building a traditional log cabin using hand tools (such as a gin pole for a crane). It took them 3 years to complete (building only before freeze-up), but was ready in time for the arrival of their daughter.
The couple hunt, forage or grow most all of their food. They built a smokehouse to cure the meat and fish, and an underground root cellar to preserve their produce and potatoes throughout the year.
In 2014, they began to share their experience with others, using their experience as wilderness guides, they offer stays in their original earthlodge (the Sun Lodge) or in traditional handmade canvas wall tents for days of dog sledding, aurora viewing, winter camping, ice fishing, snowshoeing, skiing and crafting (making your own wooden spoons). Their goal is to offer guests at their hand-built wilderness homestead “a deeper, more authentic experience of Alaska, one that is not centered solely on sublime landscapes and plastic accouterments, but rather the real products, people, and lifeways that make our lives in the north rich and meaningful.”
