Development with Percy Best, Parsons Investments Ltd. - Bruce Wark's New Wark Times Reporting 2017, 2026

At this link:  NS company buying land on Cattail Ridge, but no word yet on development plans |

"A Nova Scotia development company that builds and leases rental properties is buying a large chunk of land in Sackville across from the Ultramar gas station on Cattail Ridge.

The land, extending about 600 feet along Cattail Ridge from the Westmorland vet clinic to Bridge Street, has been cleared of birch trees by its present owner, Percy Best, who is selling most of it to Parsons Investments Ltd. of Kingston, Nova Scotia.

On its website, Parsons Investments says that since 1962, it has been developing rental properties for retail, residential, industrial and commercial tenants “ranging from international corporations to mom and pop shops.” The company also provides rental space for government agencies."

"S.A. Cunliffe says:

I remember when I had Facebook many years ago and this property was up for sale… on my “Tantramar Skate Park Project” Facebook page I had shared it as a good location for the new concrete skatepark project…. and Percy commented.. then proceeded to snap up that property.. just a coincidence.. he and Sharon Hicks have always hated me and my local advocacy for a new concrete skate park project in this town for the youth. Percy, in 2026, shoots up a 200 ft. middle finger at the Town with his “Rogers Cell Tower” Project.. what kind of legacy is this for a millionaire to leave the good people of this town Percy? All that money and zero heart."

More here with Percy Best:

"Percy Best says:

NB Power should be sold to Emera —- and they certainly seem to be in the buying mode now! This would solve a multitude of problems and it probably would see the Lepreau Nuclear Power Plant up and running basically full time, much to the chagrin of ‘those’ supplying bunker ‘C’ to Colson Cove."

"Jon says:

Any reason to believe that privatizing Lepreau would do anything except make power more expensive as Emera extracted profit from rate payers and left the eventual decommissioning expenses for the province to pay?

Emera had a major cybersecurity breach last year. That doesn’t inspire confidence in their standards.

Emera owns no nuclear generation, so has no experience in nuclear reactors. That’s who you think should run NB’s nuclear reactor?

What Lepreau needs is good management, and Canada needs to go back to treating the nuclear industry as an important national asset, instead of selling off its nuclear assets as the Harper government did because they were so rooted in the Alberta oil industry and hostile to science and engineering."

THE YORK - John Lafford + Mike Wilson/AIL Group

Jan 16, 2025

"Densification" of Downtown Sackville New Brunswick - Courtesy of John Lafford, Builder/Landlord

"Big Building" ....
or Build Back Beauty?
Local Bruce Wark reports here:

Big building could be coming to downtown Sackville |

some commentary below..

by "Muzza" here..

"Muzza says:

Wow, that “example of what a seven storey building would look like” is absolutely hideous. It looks like something out of the 80’s from Brampton Ontario. Most buildings that look like that today are being torn down and replaced. I cannot imagine adding anything more ugly to downtown Sackville. Has Lafford even bothered to look at the new builds in Dieppe with their modern design? Also, I love the fact that our Planner is all smiles, doing the bidding of developers and investors instead of looking out for the people of Sackville. No wonder Lafford is smiling in the background. Says a lot about our public servants and elected officials. Here’s an idea, cast a judicious eye to development requests instead of being a rubber stamp."

and by local Meredith Fisher:

"Meredith Fisher says:

Sadly, this is what happens when a small community divests itself of a vision to respectfully protect its heritage, built heritage and cultural heritage. Rather than realizing the strength in having a cohesive plan for development, important streetscapes of the community become something that resembles confusion. One just needs to visit St. Andrews, Lunenberg or Wolfville to witness places that understand how having a strong vision for planning interesting, beautiful streetscapes is important to community success.
Meredith Fisher
Sackville NB"

To be fair John Lafford is in-line completely with "sustainable development" smart-growth and also more recently [2020] launched "Sustainable Markets Initiative" with Terra Carta Chuck [Charles the fake king in England]-- but is Lafford in-line with the overall majority here and their wishes for the development and aesthetics of their town? Does it matter what the majority of townsfolk think now?

What else would stimulate the building of single family homes in 2025 in this town? Incentives.

More on the "Initiative" of the fake King:

With so much room to move and so much property to develop here in Tantramar one has to wonder why pushing everyone in on top of each other is considered "progress" in 2025? Should we now just halt the "densification housing model" in favour of more small villages and neighbourhoods being developed? Naming lots of newly created streets where there would be many available serviced lots waiting for the new construction of affordable housing on brand new lots for sale would be the job of a truly "on the ball" and motivated culture in our Planners Club [Lori Bickford], Staffers at Town Hall & Town Councillors Team with Mayor Andrew Black.. This would take vision and hard work.. are we going to be able to achieve this vision of truly growing our region?  Are we not positioned beautifully to see a blossoming of more housing opportunities vis-a-vis "neighbourhoods" rather than just more towers? Discuss this amongst yourselves... and if you have money consider the idea of becoming an investor in this type of project for the region.. there are ways to manifest the vision of a more developed and even more prosperous Tantramar.. are we able to work towards that goal?

Food for thought here from Warktimes.com article commentary section:

"S.A. Cunliffe says:

I laughed out loud when Lori Bickford said “vibrant” when referring to that big new 7 story apartment building towering over the landscape like a monolithic but necessary and apparently welcome build [they tell us all that we need more housing and we’re going to get it but its not built to be beautiful or elegant is it?]. By removing those three older heritage style architecture a little bit of specialness dies again here and change is the only thing you can count on these days.. and regret for what was a lovely quaint charming landscape being ambitiously transformed by the strong although baffling desire for “densification”. The word densification is about packing people in on top of each other like sardines… is it really necessary in a place with so much land and room to move? Lafford Legacy = densification in the town. I only wish he would put his considerable talents into building neighbourhoods of beautiful single family homes – and they don’t have to be large – but more new attractive homes for sale would be preferrable to this current “chicken coop” contribution. “You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy” – World Economic Forum. Lafford is completely inline with ‘sustainanable development’ smartgrowth pack and stack housing that the United Nations crowd promote and we are all about the United Nations’ ideologies here – we even fly a UN flag here. Lafford is a very wealthy man who could stop and retire comfortably tomorrow if he wanted to but he seems compelled to continue building more unattractive housing. Pity. The name “Laffordville” might just be appropriate Elaine.. you’re not wrong"

What about alternative housing solutions?

Rest in Peace Gordon Hallet Beal - 1934-2021 --- Downtown Development at 131 Main Street Denied - Property for Sale Now

Rest in peace Gordon Hallet Beal..

my condolences to the family.

https://campbellsfuneralhome.com/tribute/details/575/Gordon-Beal/obituary.html

Mr. Gordon Beal was singled out and beaten up financially by a thuggish mafia presence that exists in this university-dominated town, with a palace town hall and controlling campus culture at the university, and as well as by 'planning commission' minion Lori Bickford who wields a lot of power as an unelected regional 'overlord' here.  Instead of supporting efforts to develop housing they all actively worked against Beal's lovely 131 Main Street housing project ... why? Don't we need more housing?  Why not support the projects instead of fine people thousands $$?

131 Main Street Sackville New Brunswick is for sale. Old historic building was the property of the late Gordon Hallet Beal who passed away on August 19, 2021 at the age of 87 years old. Price $999,999 Agent: Cushman & Wakefield Atlantic realtors.

Tantramarshire was been taken over by zealots for U.N. Agenda 2030 sustainable development that allow ONLY preferred smartgrowth developments and enforce draconian measures using their many indoctrinated planners, bureaucrats, technocrats, local various town councillors, various mayors, CAO, town hall staffer, ever vocal 'community leaders' and other busy-bodies operating behind the scenes here such as but not limited to the meddling social engineering and anti-development/anti-industry Michael Fox, a professor at their climate change obsessed university... read more here:

"Jamie Burke, CAO for the town of Sackville, says the town is, “thrilled with the outcome and cost award.”

Jamie Burke is clearly a sadistic, power-hungry minion who should be 'fired' for his incredibly bad judgment of picking on senior citizen Beal.

This year will see some very big changes to this region and another election - read more at this link from local Bruce Wark's Wark Times:

Meet Chad Peters, the Tory PR guru hired to amalgamate Sackville, Dorchester & LSDs | (warktimes.com)

Many players had seen fit to target senior citizen Gordon Beal's efforts by killing his development project at 131 Main Street.  In the end he was fined many many thousands of dollars by the local thugs.

Fined for providing some housing options in this massive and historic building? These costs Beal had further experienced were on top of his financial losses in the many thousands for making plans and spending money on a development plan.  Using their unlimited powers to bully and rob Mr. Beal of money by way of punishment fines and unquestionable powers they turned rental people out onto the street in the middle of winter.

This unGodly behaviour is not a good look for our town.

Mr. Gordon Beal was a wealthy man in his 80s who came up against the dictatorship known as technocracy who actively blocked his right to develop his property or even use it to generate rental income -- which as a landowner was absolutely his right to do.

That's how this town culture seems to operate and if you're not in their U.N. agenda communitarian club of right thinking all for the "community" types you will not be able to operate and definitely this is a clear case of that..  Niki Raapana wrote about all of this with her experiences in the 90s in Seattle with her landlord/developer /// lots to read her blogger in Alaska @ http://nikiraapana.blogspot.com

The 'community' is obviously something to consider especially if the 'community' does not approve of Mr. Beal in the first place...

http://nikiraapana.blogspot.com/2013/06/community-versus-community.html

This Beal development would have been a welcome quality addition to the downtown and its design was attractive and appealing... would have been Mr. Beal's legacy project...

As Kathy Beal rightly stated on behalf of her father:

“I don’t understand why they’re not giving us a permit…but there are other builders in town who have carte blanche,” a reference to council’s approval for a multi-unit development by JN Lafford Realty Inc. on Waterfowl Lane next to the park.

Artist’s drawing of proposed apartment building behind the existing Georgian mansion at 131 Main Street. Sackville Town Council rejected the project in 2014

Some commentary...

 Percy Best says:

Is this a final chance for our Town Council members to redeem themselves before the next municipal election takes place? It is certainly a very attractive building and coordinated with the historical Fisher home in a very tucked away place.

How would it ever be possible that ‘OUR’ town management would again condemn the construction of this ideal seniors residence? Perhaps a negative Council outcome would clearly demonstrate that the various Sackville developers are still not on a level playing field.

[Sackville developer Gordon Beal had suggested he may try for a third time to win approval for a three-storey, 18-unit apartment building behind the historic Allison/Fisher/Fawcett House at 131 Main Street.]

Mining : To Make Products That We Use On Our Homes and Lives

I'm always amazed about these local professors who are anti-oil and gas and anti-pipelines and anti-oil sands and anti-everything.. including mining... you know what I think .. I think they live in a very protected little bubble of ignorance... mining isn't the problem in Canada today .. protestors are.  People training others to be radicals and protestors and 'resistors' to industries and resource development are a big problem.. I can understand why they would be uncomfortable being questioned by the RCMP but the truth is that they do need to be watched.  Sorry Dave Thomas.. but you're wrong again.  If you host an event with someone advocating against industry - expect to be watched and questioned. Simple as.
