Mount Allison University Meddlers... A History of Dominating Local Town Hall Politics

 The problem here Tantramar University City in a nutshell? I didn't say no to the Canadian "Energy East Pipeline".. but a noisy, bossy, professor-led little group from the local university did.. so that's unacceptable because that's not how democracy works for the good of all.. is it?

Also, if you want to burn wood to heat your place... I'm fine with that too.. just sayin.  Don't be a hypocrite.. if you benefit at all from the use of various and plentiful Canadian resources then be an unapologetic advocate for them... don't be a troublemaker.

For more than 35 years, she has been proud to lead at colleges and universities renowned for their unwavering commitment to academic quality and student success. On Aug. 11, 2025, she began her new position as president and vice-chancellor of Memorial. Previously, Dr. Morrison served as Sheridan College’s eighth president since 2018. 

Before joining Sheridan in November 2016 as provost and vice-president (academic), Dr. Morrison spent 17 years at York University, where she worked in various roles focused on learning, discovery and engagement. Dr. Morrison earned her PhD in higher education at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and holds a master of arts (history) as well as a bachelor of arts, specialized honours (history) from the University of Guelph, and a bachelor of arts (history) from the University of Western Ontario. 

She and her partner, Ken, have two children, both of whom are student-athletes competing at the highest level of their respective sports. "

The Libertarian voice is always missing from the political conversations in this "progressive" riding of "educated folks".. I am always amused by that simple fact.  Perhaps their candidate could come from the student population?  To be honest and to be truthful how many people wouldn't be aware that by simply lowering the massive burden of taxation you would see an instant improvement to every voter's life and we'd all enjoy an invigorated and stimulated economy naturally?  Of course an "academic" like Mario WOULD NEVER mention this simple truth; he's part of the problem.  Our local chattering class of academics in their comfortable lives dwelling in secure jobs in their " ivory towers " never suffer financially.. they're "tenured" and well paid -- very much taken care of by the nannystate they support 100% ... but they do look down in judgment on the working class with a combination of pity and detachment.. offering up their word salad on fixes.

Are you concerned about this "anti-white indoctrination" taking place?

Do Mount Allison University professors accept any responsibility for the anti-Whitism flowing from their institution?  Repeating the 'unceded territory' claims may also be a clue as to what is taking place... I first heard this claim in 2015 at the first annual Pride event in October and it was of note.

 One of the first things I discovered after moving here over 10 years ago was this: 

AVOID social justice minions and their 'coalitions' and so far that's worked out really well for me - just saying -- if there is a shortage of housing in the town for locals who are telling us that landlords prefer to rent to university students rather than local people with families THEN perhaps a policy change at the local university that floods the town with new people should be requested, ie. "international students" visiting must stay only at on campus housing! Imagine that idea folks!  Mount Allison University is very wealthy and could easily make luxury housing for these prestigious visitors!

I was set to do a debate with Irvin Sudin but he started raising too many conditions which the student organizers could not meet. So the talk will be with Hecht (his article on negative side of diversity was taken out of Vancouver Sun) . 

Announcing this talk has been delayed because UBC administration has been setting up one obstacle after another, but Students for Free Expression had enough, will push ahead with the talk come what may. I will let you know soon details of the talk.

On a personal note, Dr. Keeping—who grew up in Port aux Basques, NFLD—says moving from Calgary to tiny Sackville is a positive change, although her 17-year-old terrier-mix dog is still trying to adapt to the move.

“I’m an animal lover,” she says. “He’s really kind of my world.” Her other interests are eclectic: sci-fi/fantasy literature; yoga and meditation; genealogy and family history...and percussion.

"I recently bought an electronic drum set. I'm not a musician by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have fun trying," she says.  

And the most important question for a new University Librarian?

“I would have to say my favourite book is George Orwell’s Animal Farm. There’s a powerful message in that book that really struck me, and I often come back and look at it. It says a lot about what’s going on in society today.”
